SCAC Head Start & Early Head Start

Our Head Start family is mourning the loss of a truly special member of our community, Rosa Mae Wiley, who passed September 10th.
For more than 46 years, Rosa Mae dedicated her life to serve young children and families in Lincoln County. She began her journey as a classroom teacher, caring for infants and toddlers during the early years of our Parent and Child Centers, which would later become Early Head Start. She went on to serve as an area supervisor, where she continued her passion for children while mentoring and supporting staff throughout Southwestern Community Action Council’s Head Start and Early Head Start Programs.
Rosa Mae's impact cannot be measured in years or job titles; she was deeply loved throughout Lincoln County. Touching countless lives through her kindness, dedication, and genuine love for her community.
We express our deepest sympathy to Rosa Mae's family, friends, former colleagues, and all those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

📣PARENTS- Your voice matters!!!!❤️

Our Head Start and Early Head Start programs are built around children and families, and right now, parents have an important opportunity to speak up about the future of Head Start.

The National Head Start Association has created an easy way for families to share their voice and let decision-makers know why Head Start matters to their children, their families, and their communities.

Please take a moment to sign and encourage other Head Start families to do the same:

Let’s make sure our families are heard❤️💙

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and long time, Head Start family member, Shirley Bias, lovingly known as Ms. Shirley. Shirley spent many years nurturing three and four year old children in Cabell and Wayne counties. Spending over 50 years in the education field, Ms. Shirley has left a lasting impact on countless children, families, and coworkers. She was a light to everyone who knew her. Always smiling, encouraging others, and looking for the good in everyone she met. Her kindness, generosity, faith, and dedication to serving others made her truly special.
Ms. Shirley will be deeply missed, but the love, joy, and positive impact she shared with so many will never be forgotten. We extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
