Carroll County Rescue Squad

Since 1968, The Carroll County Rescue Squad has been a volunteer organization that repsonds to all types of emergencies and disasters.

All members are trained and respond with compassion and care for all individuals involved.

This past weekend 5 members of the Carroll County Rescue Squad went through one of the toughest trainings in preparation for some of the most challenging rescues. The Swift Water 1 Rescue Course, instructed by the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads, is designed to push you to your limits. They began Friday afternoon by learning defensive and offensive swimming drills, and understanding the water. Saturday was all rope work and more offensive swimming drills.
Sunday was passing over the strainer and more offensive drills. This course is designed for more self rescue in these situations but some victim rescue drills are performed as well.
The next step for these guys will be Swiftwater 2 where they learn more victim rescue and boat operations.

Traveling Paris St. in Huntingdon? Please detour around the area between Hawkins Ln and Jones St. there is a power pole that has causing the power lines to potentially be a danger to traveling cars.. If you are detouring please use Hawkins Ln ,Rollins Ave. and Jones St.

🚨 FRIDAY SAFETY REMINDER 🚨

The Highway 70 Yard Sales are in full swing, and our roadways are busier than normal.

Whether you’re shopping, selling, or simply traveling through the area, please remember:

🚗 Drivers
• Slow down near yard sale locations
• Expect vehicles to stop unexpectedly
• Watch for pedestrians near the roadway
• Be prepared for traffic entering and exiting driveways

🚶 Shoppers & Vendors
• Park completely off the roadway whenever possible
• Do not block driveways or intersections
• Watch for moving traffic before crossing the road
• Keep children within sight and away from traffic lanes

⚠️ Remember: The biggest danger isn’t the traffic you see—it’s the traffic you don’t expect.

Everyone has somewhere to be. A little patience and awareness can help ensure everyone gets there safely.

🚨 HIGHWAY 70 YARD SALE SAFETY REMINDER 🚨

As thousands of shoppers travel Highway 70 this week, we ask everyone to help keep our roads safe.

⚠️ Expect the unexpected:
• Vehicles slowing suddenly or stopping
• Cars parked along road shoulders
• Drivers pulling back onto the highway
• Pedestrians walking near traffic lanes
• Increased traffic entering and leaving yard sale locations
• Children who may not recognize roadway dangers

🚗 Drivers:
✔ Slow down and increase following distance
✔ Stay alert and avoid distractions
✔ Watch for brake lights ahead
✔ Use turn signals early
✔ Be patient with other motorists

🚶 Shoppers:
✔ Park as far off the roadway as possible
✔ Look both ways before crossing
✔ Keep children close at all times
✔ Wear bright-colored clothing when possible

A few extra seconds of caution can prevent a tragedy.

The north bound lane will be down to 1 lane for an extended period of time….

North bound HWY 22 at Connie Allen Rd is currently down to one lane due to a vehicle accident…. If traveling that area use caution!!!

Today, the members of the Carroll County Rescue Squad pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or a gathering with family and friends. It is a day of remembrance for the heroes who answered the call to defend the freedoms we enjoy each day. Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to this nation will never be forgotten.

As “Taps” echoes across cemeteries and memorials today, we remember those who gave everything for something greater than themselves. We also keep their families, friends, and fellow service members in our thoughts and prayers.

“Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake, from the sky.
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.”

From all of us at the Carroll County Rescue Squad — thank you to those who served, those who sacrificed, and the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

As Rescue Squad Week comes to a close, I want to take a moment to recognize and thank every member of the Carroll County Rescue Squad for the hard work, sacrifice, and dedication you show every single day.

This team gives countless hours — long nights, long days, missed time with family, and endless training — all to ensure you are ready when someone calls for help. You willingly step into situations most people would walk away from. Whether it’s searching through rough terrain for a missing person, spending exhausting hours on the water, responding in dangerous conditions, or comforting someone on the worst day of their life, you answer the call without hesitation.

What you do cannot always be measured by reports or statistics. It’s measured in lives touched, families comforted, and communities protected.

Thank you for your professionalism, your compassion, and your commitment to serving others. I am proud to serve alongside each of you and honored to be your captain.
