This past weekend 5 members of the Carroll County Rescue Squad went through one of the toughest trainings in preparation for some of the most challenging rescues. The Swift Water 1 Rescue Course, instructed by the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads, is designed to push you to your limits. They began Friday afternoon by learning defensive and offensive swimming drills, and understanding the water. Saturday was all rope work and more offensive swimming drills.
Sunday was passing over the strainer and more offensive drills. This course is designed for more self rescue in these situations but some victim rescue drills are performed as well.
The next step for these guys will be Swiftwater 2 where they learn more victim rescue and boat operations.
Help us in congratulating these guys on their hard work!
Members who now have their Swift Water 1 certification:
Logan Ledsinger, Noah Maxwell, John Cameron Norwood, Trevor Foster, Justin Abbott.
