A courtroom, a stone church, chimney swifts, and a creek are among the subjects of Huntingdon Landmarks’ free Thursday walking tours for summer 2026. Tours will take place rain or shine, and no reservations or tickets are necessary — just comfortable walking shoes!

Tours begin in several different locations and alternate between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. start times, except for the popular July 2 ghost tour, which will begin at 8 p.m. If the weather’s hot, be sure to bring along water. And while the tours are free, donations to Huntingdon Landmarks are welcome. Huntingdon Landmarks is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to help preserve and teach about notable buildings and sites in Huntingdon and Huntingdon County.

The free Huntingdon Walking tour for Thursday, July 17, will be another easy one, perfect for a weather-challenged week: We’ll tour the Juniata Brewing Co. and learn how their delicious beers are brewed. Our guide will be Landmarks board member Sean Steeg, who just happens to be JBC’s co-owner. The tour starts at 6 p.m. at JBC, 1102 Susquehanna Avenue (a block west of Washington on 11th). Afterward, you could also participate in ArtWalk or grab dinner after at Midnight’s Bar & Grill, Muddy Run Tavern, Boxer’s, or 312. Bring a friend! Bring several!

The Huntingdon Landmarks free walking tour for Thursday, July 10, won't involve much walking at all, but what a tour! See inside the spectacular Woods-Brown Mansion, a 19th-century Italianate fantasy located at 1001 Washington Street. Joel and Barb Brown will guide us through their home's beautifully restored first floor and talk about the process of reviving a building that over the years had lost many of its most extravagant features. The tour begins at 10 a.m.
