If your home or business has sustained damage from this (July 29, 2026) heavy rain & flash flooding weather event, please use the New York State Damage Self-Reporting Tool to report your damages.

Submitting a report does not guarantee FEMA assistance, but it helps New York State assess the overall impact of the storm. If the damage is significant enough, New York State may request a Presidential Disaster Declaration, which is required before any FEMA Assistance can be considered.

Please note that this reporting tool is only for damage to homes and businesses. Damage to public buildings, roads, bridges, and other public infrastructure is reported through a separate process by local governments and a limited number of eligible nonprofit organizations.

A water main break occurred in the Village of Philmont, in front of Richardson Hall. Residents needed to be evacuated. EMS contacted Red Cross, who in turn contacted the Churchtown Firehouse requesting use of the facility to house resident for the night. Churchtown Firehouse volunteers arrived early to setup for arriving residents.

If you need a break from the heat, the banquet hall at the Churchtown Firehouse is air conditioned. Bottled cold water is available, as is Grandma's cookies. Drop by to cool off the next few days.
