THIS FRIDAY, August 7 from 11:00AM - 1:00PM EST on Zoom ☕☎️ join the Phone Call Crew (we'll train you) or stay tuned for refill needs. Back to school = PPE very important. So far, we need volunteers to refill Phoenicia Library + Newburgh Free Library (DM if interested!)

Join Celebrate845 on the First Friday of every month for some sweet sweet virtual coworking. Folks are welcome to attend & work on their own stuff, or can help us do Celebrate-type things such as:
• Check in on existing / contact more potential Free PPE Hubs + Cleaner Air Partnership locations
• Edit/add to our Resource Guide
• Write image descriptions
• Translate our materials
• Share our resources across other platforms
• Graphic design work
• Whatever else feels important

• No registration required. Zoom link will drop the day-of at Celebrate845.com/Links (in Instagram bio)

• If you need help accessing somewhere with free WiFi, we can recommend places.

• Video on not required. Audio not required either. Utilize the chat as called. Auto captions available as well as transcriptions in multiple languages. We do ask all attendees to engage at least once.

• There may be soft music (low-fi beats style) & folks are welcomed to chat or ask questions, but the space will be mostly quiet so folks can work peacefully.

• As security measures, we'll have an admin letting folks in from the waiting room & who will ensure all attendees are present in good faith. Must engage at least once. Hate & bad faith energy will not be tolerated. Admins have the right to kick folks out as needed. Consider getting familiar with our values before attending at Celebrate845.com

Very cool global connection alert! 🚨 🌍 🌈 ♾️

So remember when we were hyping up back in May? Well through that effort, we connected with Aggie & some awesome folks at Mujuzi Wycliffe gift - all the way in Uganda.

Uganda is facing health challenges like Ebola in addition to COVID, HIV, etc. Buying high quality masks there is expensive. Since we here in the USA have access to so much free PPE, we're sending some over so our q***r trans pals there can wear & distro them.

GOAL: $117 to send ~300 masks to Uganda comrades! Shout out USPS International! All digital wallets are at Celebrate845.com/Links (& Instagram bio). Any extras will cover other recent local shipments in NY & across the US.

BLURB FROM Mujuzi Wycliffe gift : Nange Healing & Harm Reduction Center is a community led healing initiative under TAYCOF Uganda Talented Youth Community Fellowship Ug🏳‍⚧🏳‍⚧🏳‍⚧🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈 that supports trans & gender diverse people, survivors of violence, people living with HIV, & people navigating substance use through peer support, healing spaces, harm reduction education, storytelling, & community care.

High quality respirator masks would be incredibly valuable for our community members, particularly during peer support gatherings, wellness activities, outreach efforts, & community events. Many of the people we serve face barriers to healthcare access and live in shared shelter environments for LGBTQI+ people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, where preventing the spread of illness can be especially challenging.

A supply of masks would make a meaningful contribution to our work and help support safer participation in our programs, community spaces, & outreach activities.

Thank you again for your solidarity & willingness to support grassroots community care efforts. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect & would be happy to provide any additional information about Nange & the communities we serve.

Amazing Free PPE + Supply distro in 🏀👍

Big gratitude to Bobbito García aka Kool Bob Love for inviting us to do a distro at the FC21 All World 1v5 qualifier game in this week. Gave away a bunch of masks, free COVID tests, zines, stickers, & more to a bunch of cool families at the park!

2 impactful lessons:

- The continued of the keeps displacing long time/lifelong locals & the legal aid available is not sufficient. If you're newer here and/or owning housing or land, please make sure you're supporting efforts created BY locals, or just supporting us directly! If you're not sure how, ask us any time.

- Kids are not afraid of masks! We met a bunch of cool kids + families "even though we were masked", and multiple kids took masks for themselves, put them on right away, and took extras for family members. No need to project any fear onto the youth, and pretty cool actually to help keep them well in the long run by avoiding giving/getting COVID or

It's important to us to do distros across the 845 in places that folks may not expect but would benefit from the resources we're able to bring. If you're having a gathering and it's outdoors (or if it's indoors with fierce clean air mitigations + accessibility measures [ask what that means if needed]), we're pretty down to come through. Huge gratitude to folks seeing that everything & everyone is connected, and those who move through this world with integrity & care. If it's you, let's connect ♾️

WHY: stickers are portals! Help us cast some so folks in the 845 find us + helpful resources.

WHERE TO STICK: for legal reasons, we would ~nEvEr~ advise anyone to stick stickers where there are already stickers out in the wild, such as the backs of street signs, electrical boxes, at gas stations, on poles, railings, at bus stops, etc. But we WOULD advise folks to look both ways whenever they stick. Look around your town for the good spots & surfaces! Hopefully where things don't get taken down often!

COST: free! If you're down to do the legwork of sticking a sticker out in the world, we'll send you 1 to stick + 1 to keep for FREE! (& if you wanna donate to this effort or cover the ~$0.82 stamp price, that's above & beyond but def not expected. Paylinks in Instagram bio.)
