Starting in October, we'll begin meeting again on:
- Second Wednesdays from 6-7PM EST, and/or
- Fourth Sundays from 1-2PM EST

UPDATE 1 about our recent bulk order of rapid COVID tests 👀

Immense gratitude to anyone who shared our call & got what they needed or helped others do so. It is always bizarre to think about how we have somehow become a significant public health resource in our region, but we are always grateful to hold it & to those who opt in.

All told, about 850 rapid tests for ordered up front - aka 850 chains of transmission potentially broken!! If you are someone who ordered, (this info is in your invoice, but) stay tuned for an alert once the tests arrive ~Nov. 1.

We are ordering an additional ~300 rapid tests to start that should also arrive ~Nov. 1. These will be available for a sliding scale rate of $0 - $5 per test. We ended up getting them for $1.99 per single test, so any "profit" made when folks slide the scale higher will fund those needing them for less. We will also likely order more sometime after Nov. 1 & hope that more orgs, events, free hubs, etc. opt into ordering through us.

If you missed out: stay tuned. Once we receive the tests, we'll put the word out.

And if you think having rapid tests on hand isn't a priority: consider reconsidering. Anyone of any age can get - even if your COVID infection was mild (or asymptomatic, meaning you didn't even notice you were sick!). $1.99 for a test seems like a good investment, and is one that can help you not only know when you're sick but also help prevent getting other people sick. We hear a lot of folks in our community feeling like they don't have a lot of control over things these days, and we remind you that this is one small thing you CAN control. Trying to stay safer & not spread illness to folks who can't afford to get sick feels very empowering, and we're really happy to do our part in helping provide that choice to more people.

Not our event aka no mask requirements or access info available, but if anyone requests access info we can sus it out & do our best to provide.

Join Celebrate845 on the First Friday of every month for some sweet sweet virtual coworking. Being together stays important, as does the need for accessible spaces. Getting stuff done together can be really empowering these days, so consider tapping in if you need support or want to help.

Folks are welcome to attend & work on their own stuff, or can help us do Celebrate-type things such as:
• Street Team outreach
• Edit/add to our Resource Guide
• Write image descriptions
• Check in on existing / contact more potential Free PPE Hubs + Cleaner Air Partnership locations
• Translate our materials
• Share our resources across other platforms
• Graphic design work
• Whatever else feels important

• If you need help accessing somewhere with free WiFi, we can recommend places.

Once we get the tests (~by November latest?), we'll make them available sliding scale ~$0-$5 each + shipping in the 845 and beyond. We're offering our Free PPE Hubs to get in on the bulk buy too. (If you wanna become a Free PPE Hub or help launch one, reach out.)

Having rapid COVID tests on hand is a great way to keep you & all neighbors well. This is a WAY better deal than spending $30+ at Walgreens or wherever for tests, so get in on it.

🚨 "Labor Day" fundraiser by Celebrate845 ♾️

Hey friends. One of our own - a generations-HV local Black woman - needs our support. She moved recently (in a good way!) but needed to pay her half of the rent + the deposit and is now struggling to afford groceries.

GOAL: $2,000. We're already at $340, so keep it comin' if you believe food and housing are human rights.

You might be an ideal contributor if you:
- Are newer to the 845 & can afford the higher cost of living (forever so weird that we can remember when rent was like $600 all in...)
- If you get a paid day off for Labor Day (which she does not, & neither do we)
- If you're visiting the 845 for the weekend (give back to the community!)
- If you're spending a lot this weekend on food
- If you hold relative privileges, and/or have never had rent get in the way of you affording food

We know that so many things feel scarce these days, and we do NOT call on our friends who are already struggling to contribute. Let's make room for other folks to step up & ensure that our friend is cared for. If you haven't helped an individual survive lately, this could be your moment.
