Join us tomorrow at 10am for barely straw stuffing and throwing at Oakdale!
Thanks to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Columbia Land Conservancy we again have funding to put removable bags of barley straw in the lake. As the straw decomposes, it hosts a fungus that eats algae, fighting algal growth. Bags will be removed before swimming starts! Please come help! It's fun! We stuff and tie bags, then throw or take them out in boats!

We ❤️ lifeguards!

The Hudson High School Pool is looking to conduct a Red Cross Lifeguard Certification class before the end of July.

If you are interested in taking a course, please send an email to [email protected]

Only 20 students can be accepted for this class. If there is more interest, another class could be held at a later date.

There are pools and lakes all over the state looking for certified lifeguards. NYS is currently paying $20/hour for lifeguards. There is still time to take this course and find a great paying summer job (and indoor pools year round)

It's aquatic gardening time! Friends of Oakdale Lake’s 'Oakdale Lake Water Quality Project', funded by the DEC, is sponsoring invasive curly leaf pondweed removal on Monday June 13th and Tuesday June 14th, 2022. This removal will improve swimming conditions and remove nutrients from the lake to improve water quality over time. If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected].

Big thanks to the Hudson Youth Center for all their hard work helping to improve and maintain this wonderful community resource!
