⏰ONE WEEK TO GO.

Solidarity Celebration. Friday, May 1st | 3:30 PM – 5:30pm.

NO WORK🚫
NO SCHOOL🚫
NO SHOPPING🚫
✅YES Protesting!

✅And yes to building a community and a world that works for everyone.

Standing Against Extremism LivCo (SAGE) is hosting a 'Rush Hour Rally & Community Action Fair' on May 1st at the Historic Howell Courthouse from 3:30-5:30pm.

In solidarity with nationwide ʼMay Day Strongʼ events, a day of economic disruption, SAGE is holding space for community members to learn about the local resistance and how they can take sustained action. Rallies help build the movement, but are not enough. The billionaires break every rule, and it’s going to take more than a rally to stop them. By not participating in work, school, or shopping on May 1, the people can bring business as usual to a halt. Demonstrators nationwide will show the power of the working class when it collectively flexes its muscle on this tremendous day of boycotting and rallying.

Our Demands👇🏽

💥Tax the rich so our families, not their fortunes, come first.

💥No I CE. No w ar. No private army serving unchecked federal power.

💥Expand democracy, not corporate power.

💥Hands off our vote.

Join us as together we celebrate May 1st through action and community✊🏽Be sure to check out the booths and musical performances on the courthouse lawn!

👉🏽The only reason the food distribution event was a reality is because people donated food👈🏽

SAGE’s goal is to continue providing meal kits to our community weekly until SNAP benefits are back, but that can only happen if we continue to get food donations. This next week’s meal kits are chili, breakfast burrito bowls, mac and peas, cheesy tuna melt/tomato soup and white bean chicken soup.

💥Help us to help our neighbors in need💥

Go to our wishlist now👇🏽
https://www.thingstogetme.com/1867536ac7401 and purchase meal ingredients (towards the top) to be sent directly to us!

⏰We need to receive the food by Thursday afternoon as this is when the work party to compile the meal kits will take place (in Hartland at 6pm if you’d like to help). So please donate today if you can! And share this post with your networks so others can help, too🙏🏽

AMAZING WORK👏🏽

A huge shoutout to all the folks reaching out to give ingredients to make meals and volunteer. We have enough food to make dozens of meal kits!! This includes many with specific food allergies. We are also able to coodinate delivery to those with transportation issues.

NEED HELP?
Fill out this quick form, especially if you have diet or transportation needs https://www.sagelivco.com/foodassistancecrisis or just stop by on Saturday!

🙏🏽HOW YOU CAN HELP

There is also a need for pet food donations. You can purchase those and meal ingredients directly from the store via this wishlist https://www.thingstogetme.com/1867536ac7401 and then it will be sent to a lead’s house to be brought to the events. Or you can drop off dry/canned dog and cat food on Saturdays from 12-2 to be distributed.

📌 Another way you can help is by circulating the flyer and helping to spread the word!

If you want to drop off donations on Saturday between 12-2 (since there isn’t a food pantry open in LivCo during that time) feel free. There have been requests for personal care items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap- body and dish- shampoo, deodorant, diapers, wipes, etc. Whatever is leftover will be stored at a volunteer’s house to be used during the next distribution event the following Saturday as we plan to be giving away food weekly at the same place/time throughout November.

💜JOIN THE TEAM

At this point, we have enough helpers to compile the meal kits as well as folks to assist during the distribution event on Saturday. However, the mutual aid team will need future volunteers for follow up events. They meet the first Wednesday of every month in Hartland from 5:30-7pm. The next one is November 5th, message for location. They also meet biweekly via Zoom.

WHAT IS MUTUAL AID?🤗

Mutual aid is a powerful form of community support based on solidarity. It’s the practice of neighbors voluntarily coming together to share resources and help one another. We operate on the belief that everyone has something to contribute and everyone has needs to be met. Mutual Aid is a network of generosity and caring. It is not about charity; it’s about community. Mutual aid is an act of love. More info here 👇🏽

Sponsor a hot family meal for just $14! Meal kits will provide ingredients needed to make a 9x13 casserole.

$7 covers a PB&J kit

Here’s the wishlist: https://www.thingstogetme.com/1867536ac7401 of ingredients to make the meal kits (towards the bottom) and bulk snack items to have on hand during the event for folks to grab as needed. You can pick an item/s, purchase directly from the store via the above wishlist link and it will ship to us!

-Our first goal is 15 tuna casserole kits: 15 bags of noodles, 45 cans of tuna, 15 cans of peas, and 45 cans of cream of mushroom soup.

-Second goal is 10 x PB&J kits: 10 bags of bread, 10 jars of both jelly and peanut butter.

-The third goal is 10 x meal kits for the unhoused who do not have access to a kitchen.

The prepackaged ingredients will be compiled into meal kits and then distributed during our first pop up food event for folks to take and make at home. Any food not picked up will be used to stock local food pantries and/or saved for the next distribution day. Donations are not tax deductible, this is simply community helping community. Email [email protected] for other ways on how to contribute.
