* House inside Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) a home with 20 Bedrooms and Four Family Rooms
* House inside Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital a home with 14 bedrooms
* Family Room inside MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital

RMHH — we’re glad you’re here! We welcome your thoughts, comments, suggestions and questions
about RMHH. As you may know there are many inspiring people
supporting RMHH and wonderful stories to share. While our ultimate
goal is to have open dialogue with our fans, we know that there just
isn’t enough time in the day to respond to every post. We also know

24 years of making the hospital feel a little more like home.

On this day 24 years ago, Ronald McDonald House opened on the fourth floor inside Texas Children's Hospital, giving families with seriously ill children a place to rest, recharge and connect, without having to go too far from their child.

Today, our House and Family Lounges at Texas Children’s Hospital continue to provide those important spaces for families, and volunteers are a big part of making them feel warm, welcoming and cared for.

From preparing rooms and restocking Family Lounges to organizing supplies and helping wherever an extra set of hands is needed, our hospital volunteers take care of the little things that can make a big difference during a difficult day.

As we celebrate 24 years at Texas Children’s, we’re also looking for more volunteers to help us continue this legacy of care.

Are you a kid at heart with a creative streak?

If glitter, glue, paint and craft supplies are your idea of a good time, we have the perfect volunteer role for you!

Our Family Activities volunteers help bring fun and creativity to families staying at Holcombe House. Activity Time takes place every evening from 5–8 p.m. in our Great Room, giving families a chance to create, imagine, and enjoy time together outside the routines of treatment.

As a volunteer, you’ll set up tables and supplies, lead families through a craft or activity, encourage budding artists of all ages, and help clean up afterward. No professional art skills required - just enthusiasm, patience and a willingness to embrace a little creative chaos!

It's Hunger Action Month and there are some forms of food insecurity that often go unnoticed.

For parents and caregivers who have spent long hours at their child’s hospital bedside, a hearty snack can go a long way. There are 15 Ronald McDonald House Lounges located throughout our partner institutions in the Texas Medical Center where caregivers can grab a complimentary meal or snack to give them the energy they need to stay strong for their child.

Our lounges are restocked several times a day by our staff and volunteers. Each week, we provide grab and go meals, snacks and food essentials for families with a hospitalized child. Help us nourish families this Hunger Action Month.

In September we Go Gold for childhood cancer awareness. Our friends at The Faris Foundation brought all the sparkle and joy to Holcombe House for a Go Gold party that has become an annual tradition. The story of Ronald McDonald House has been connected to childhood cancer from the beginning. Our first Houses were championed by pediatric oncologists – Dr. Audrey Evans launched the very first House in Philadelphia in 1974, and Dr. Fernbach spearheaded Houston’s first House in 1981. These doctors understood that when a child is fighting cancer, the whole family needs care and support.

Today, families travel from across the country and around the world to the Texas Medical Center seeking lifesaving cancer treatment for their children. Many find a home and a community at one of our Ronald McDonald Houses.

They arrive exhausted, frightened and far from home. We are here to welcome them, walk beside them, and make sure they don’t face the journey alone.

This September, we Go Gold for every child fighting cancer, and every family fighting alongside them.

Hospitals can feel intimidating for anyone, but for children, all the unfamiliar sights, sounds and procedures can be especially scary.

To help soothe anxiety and empower young patients, we hosted a Teddy Bear Clinic for the pediatric ICU at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Our kiddos put on their imaginary doctor coats and took care of their teddy bear friends by checking heartbeats, applying bandages and helping their bears feel better.

Creative play like this can help young patients understand more about their own procedures and offer an outlet to express their concerns in a supportive and safe environment.
