501c3 EIN # 99-1342280 ZOEY was a beautiful white deaf Pitbull found and rescued from the streets of Houston.

A group of volunteers working together to save dogs in the Houston TX area; doing it all in the name of ZOEY, a badly beaten, neglected & abused deaf, white Pitbull. She was found on an empty lot by none other than another pitbull, REX, who by hawling alerted his human companions who then went to find ZOEY. She was taken to the vet to get treated, she was in bad shape, emaciated with several broken bones, her hips and ribs were broken and she was full of fleas, completely covered in them but sadly she was anemic too. We were hopeful, she had been found, Zoey had been rescued; now Zoey had a future to look forward to where there is no neglect only Love and Compassion. Sadly, our ZOEY left us on July 5th. 2013. We save others on her name, her mission is to help other animals in need. Help ZOEY help others!

Last week we at The ZOEY Group offered to cover the initial
Vetting and Heartworm treatment for a dog Zully Vasquez Ventura found. The offer was that if a rescue stepped up to intake him, find him a foster and cared for him until adoption, we would cover his Heartwom treatment and initial vetting. Kade, was picked up and a foster was found by Perez-Strickler and Waiting Under the Willow Foundation - WUWF - WUWF ; we were in touch during the weekend and Tomball Animal Hospital with Dr Jana Foltin made room for him today and he has started treatment. Send good wishes as Kade will need them to beat this very preventable Heartworm Disease. Support your local rescues, when working as a team and with your help, rescues can save more dogs. Please remember to SPAY AND NEUTER, remeber to commit to your pets for Life and to be a responsible owner by providing medical care when needed.

A huge improvement in Bluebonnet’s health at her 2 week follow up check. Thank you Tomball Animal Hospital. She would benefit from finding a committed foster for 90 days. Sweet, happy and very food motivated to learn all kinds of tricks. Would you help Bluebonnet?

Litter after litter is being born on the streets. We got too late to this family and now one of their females gave birth to 11 puppies right there on the dirt . Not a single piece of cloth or cardboard, nothing.
Dog needs a rescue to take her in with all of her babies. We are already sterilizing the rest of the animals in the area and took care of a parvo litter . We need help with a rescue taking them in. We are happy to help with the initial check up at our vet in Tomball but puppies are 2 days old. 2 days out in the hot dirt and ants around them.

It appears our video with the update on Pio was not visible to everyone. Let’s try again.
Pio was Distemper Positive, unfortunately the disease progressed and he had Advanced neurological signs which indicate that the virus has invaded the central nervous system, causing inflammation, demyelination (loss of the protective nerve covering), and tissue damage.
Other advanced neurological signs were Myoclonus: Involuntary, rhythmic muscle twitching (often called a "distemper twitch") that can persist even during sleep.Seizures: Frequently include "chewing-gum fits" (jaw-chewing movements with drooling) and generalized seizures.
Vestibular and Cerebellar Dysfunction: Head tilt, circling, rapid involuntary eye movements (nystagmus), and severe lack of coordination (ataxia).Paresis or Paralysis, (Pio had this in his back two legs) which is Progressive weakness or complete loss of movement, typically starting in the rear limbs and advancing to all four legs.
He was only eating if hand fed. He was deteriorating rapidly.
A decision, taken in consideration all the information from his veterinarian team at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists to end his suffering was made.
His Brucella Canis test came back as Negative .

Quick update on the last 4 dogs treated at
Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists with the same symptoms. All coming from the same area in Cleveland, TX .
We have advised the neighbors close to the areas where these dogs have been found and we are preparing a statement to be printed and deliver in and around the area with advise on how to prevent any more contamination of these two diseases.
Brucella Canis is the specific bacterium that causes Brucellosis Disease in dogs and though is rare it can be passed to humans.

Pio remains in critical care but his wound has improved but still has some discharge, healing tissue and strong smell; as it turns out, it was a pyotraumatic dermatitis or acute moist dermatitis, what is commonly known as a “hot spot” gone bad.
A persistent slowly worsening anemia showed up in his blood work this morning but doctor Bracho believes is due to the hookworm infestation, ongoing critical illness and the repeated blood draws.
He is eating and drinking well on his own.
He continues to have tremors but no seizure activity. His Distemper test is still pending.
We will continue to post updates as we get them.
Please send your applications to foster Pio once he is released from Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists . He weights 38.8 lbs and has been nothing but a sweetheart to everyone .

We have a sad update, we have lost King Arthur . He passed earlier today due to complications of Distemper and Pneumonia.
Distemper test came back as positive .
If you want to see the last video of him, please message Angelica InRescue but I don’t want you to have the last memory of him in that way.
We continue to fight for Pio.
