🏈 Thursday Night Lights—at our Wednesday Rotary meeting!

Join Tomball Rotary on Wednesday, October 21 at Martha's Mexican Restaurant and Grill at noon, as we welcome historian and author Michael Hurd for a look at the remarkable history of Black high school football in Texas.

His acclaimed book, Thursday Night Lights, tells the stories of players, coaches, and communities who built a powerful football legacy during segregation—a story of talent, perseverance, and community pride that deserves to be remembered.

Raised in Houston, Michael is a U.S. Air Force veteran, a founding staff member of USA Today, and retired director of Prairie View A&M University’s Texas Institute for the Preservation of History and Culture.

Come enjoy lunch, fellowship, and a fascinating conversation about the intersection of sports, history, and community!

Thank you to Stan Galanski for coming to speak to our club today. Child s*x trafficking is an extremely difficult, but extremely important topic. It's heartening to see how Rotarians around Houston, the US and the world are helping stamp out this scourge.

This conversation matters because protecting children requires communities willing to learn, recognize warning signs, and support survivors. Sharing a meal builds fellowship; facing hard issues together turns that fellowship into service.

Come get to know us on a Wednesday at noon at Martha's Mexican Restaurant and Grill, and get involved in some of the most important and impactful conversations in Tomball.

Rotary International's Fight Against Human Trafficking in the Greater Houston Area

Join us Wednesday Oct. 14 at Martha's Mexican Restaurant and Grill at noon as we welcome Rhonda Kuykendall, MSW, and Stan Galanski for an important conversation about preventing human trafficking, supporting survivors, and turning awareness into action.

Rhonda Kuykendall is a survivor leader, legislative advocate, and Task Force Director for the Fort Bend Anti-Trafficking Collective. Her work spans statewide anti-trafficking protocols for Texas CASA, advocacy for stronger protections for children, and service on the Governor’s Texas Human Trafficking Survivor Leader Council.

Stan Galanski leads the Rotary District 5890 Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force and is a recipient of Rotary International’s Service Above Self Award. He and Space Center Rotary completed a $108,000 global grant combating child s*x trafficking in Galveston and Brazoria Counties and have secured approval for a $304,000 global grant focused on Metropolitan Houston.

Learn how education, prevention, intervention, and collaboration can make a difference—and how you can be part of Rotary’s response.

Happening LIVE right now at Martha's!

We are thrilled to welcome Judge Sonya Heath (Presiding Judge of the 310th Family District Court) and Judge Angela M. Lancelin (Presiding Judge of the 245th Judicial District Court) as they take us "Inside Family Courts" here in Harris County.

True to the Rotary spirit of Service Above Self, both of these dedicated leaders bring decades of commitment not just to the bench, but to our community. Judge Heath has a deep history of local service—including serving as Past President of the University Area Rotary Club, chairing district conferences, and serving as Inaugural Gala Chair for the Rotary Firefighters Home. Judge Lancelin brings a career-long dedication to public service, community trust, and ensuring fair access and meaningful opportunities for all residents in our judicial system.

It’s an inspiring conversation on justice, community impact, and family law that perfectly aligns with our Rotary values.

Today at lunch at Martha's Mexican Restaurant and Grill, Former district governor Dr. Eric Liu, DC, CCSP presented Paul Harris Pins to our membership. Do you know about Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary International? These pins bearing his name and likeness are awarded to recognize various levels of donation to the Rotary Foundation.

The Rotary Foundation transforms monetary contributions into service projects that advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace. Through its global grant programs, it funds major humanitarian initiatives worldwide—most notably leading the global effort to eradicate polio—as well as supporting local community development, clean water access, and educational scholarships.

Come get to know our club! Tomorrow's social at Tomball's Empty Glass (Thursday Oct. 1 at 5PM) is the perfect opportunity! Bring hand warmers and socks to support Tomball Police Department's outreach efforts.

🌟 Big Rotary experience. A remarkable personal journey. Join us in welcoming Dr. Eric Liu, DC, CCSP, to our upcoming Rotary Club of Tomball meeting!

Eric will be talking about the Rotary Foundation. The Foundation is Rotary’s charitable arm, funding projects around the world that fight disease, provide clean water, support education, promote peace, and help end polio.

Born in Taiwan, Eric served as a First Sergeant in the Taiwanese Army before moving to the United States. He earned his biology degree at Houston’s University of St. Thomas and graduated valedictorian of his class at Texas Chiropractic College.

His commitment to service is equally impressive. Since joining Rotary in 2004, Eric has served as club president, District 5890 Governor, and an International Assembly Training Leader. Today, he serves as District 5890’s Rotary Foundation Chair, bringing more than two decades of Rotary experience to the work of helping clubs make a difference.

Come enjoy fellowship and meet a leader whose journey reflects the spirit of Service Above Self. Bring a friend—we’d love to see you there!
