It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tanveer Alam Munshi. He was a Ph.D. candidate (Petroleum Engineering) at the University of Houston.

Janaza Namaz of late Dr. Zaki Din Husain will be on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, 2PM at Hamza Mosque.

In Loving Memory of Dr. Zaki Din Husain.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dr. Zaki Din Husain, who passed away on the morning of September 19, 2026, at the age of 79.

ইন্না লিল্লাহে ওয়া ইন্না ইলাহে রাজেউন
إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un
“To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.”

Dr. Husain served as Chairperson of the Bangladesh Association Houston from 1993 to 1994 and remained a highly respected and beloved member of the Bangladeshi-American community.

While returning from Greece with his wife and friends, Dr. Husain suffered a cardiac event during a layover at Newark Airport on his journey home to Houston. He was taken to University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, where he received excellent care. Sadly, he later passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Shamsun Nahar (“Lily”); his son Zeeshan, daughter-in-law Farjana Mohsin, and granddaughter Zahra; and his daughter Zeena and son-in-law David Beavers.

Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Dr. Husain was a graduate of Chittagong Cadet College. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), 1968 batch, and later earned his PhD from the University of Houston in 1980.

Dr. Husain was nationally respected in his profession and deeply loved within the Bangladeshi community in Houston and beyond. Throughout his life, he touched countless lives through teaching, mentoring, friendship, and service in both Bangladesh and the United States. Even in retirement, he continued teaching and pursuing his many professional interests.

He will always be remembered for his remarkable intelligence, generosity, humor, warmth, and loyalty. He was always quick to laugh, never met a stranger, and gave the very best hugs.

Dr. Husain lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing bridge, watching films, and traveling around the world with his wife and friends.

Our beloved Zaki Din Husain died the morning of September 19, 2026 at the age of 79. ইন্না লিল্লাহে ওয়া ইন্না ইলাহে রাজেউন, إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعون Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un "To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return”. He was the Bangladesh Association Houston Chairperson in 1993 to 1994.

He was traveling back from Greece with his wife and friends when he suffered a cardiac event at the Newark airport during a layover back to Houston. We are deeply saddened to share that Mr. Mizanur Rahman, beloved husband of Kushum Rahman, a long-time Houston resident and a well-known community member, passed away last night,

ইন্না লিল্লাহে ওয়া ইন্না ইলাহে রাজেউন, إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعون Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un "To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return”.

Mr. Rahman leaves behind his loving wife, two sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and a wide circle of relatives, friends, and well-wishers whose lives were touched by his kindness and dedication.

His namaz-e-janaza will take place on Monday, SEPTEMBER 14, 2026, following Dhuhr prayer @ 2:00 PM at Hamza Masjid, 6233 Tres Lagunas Dr., Houston, TX 77083.

Burial: Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77027.
