Alpha Search And Recovery Highly qualified volunteers dedicated to finding the missing. Search and Rescue team based in Houston, TX.

Alpha Search and Recovery team members are all volunteers, who dedicate their own time and resources to locating missing persons. All Alpha SAR members receive training in all areas involved in effective and cooperative search and rescue teams. Team members are trained in Incident Command System, which is part of the National Incident Management System used by FEMA and most branches of the Federal

Government. Having members trained in ICS and NIMS allows the team to efficiently partner with other government agencies for searches and disaster relief. Team members are also trained to become a SARTech II as outlined by the National Association of Search And Rescue. All training is provided to Alpha SAR members and member candidates free of charge.

We had the great privilege of nominating Linda Cooke for the 2026 Volunteer Houston Recognition Award; honored at the Mayor's Volunteer Recognition Ceremony. Linda has been a dedicated and dependable volunteer for the past two years. Her willingness to participate in demanding and unpredictable training scenarios helps ensure that our canines are prepared for the wide variety of situations they may encounter in the field. 📢 Alpha SAR is seeking access to large urban, park, or wilderness areas in and within one hour of Houston for our team trainings. Trainings at each location would likely be once or twice per quarter on Tuesday evenings, Wednesday evenings, or Saturday mornings.

•Dogs work on lead or off-leash under voice control
•Training follows Leave No Trace principles
•We are respectful of property, people, and wildlife
•All team members follow any site-specific rules or requirements
•Our organization carries liability insurance

These trainings are essential for preparing our team to assist local agencies during real-world search and rescue missions.

This weekend Alpha Search and Recovery was awarded a grant for $5,000 from USG Galena Park. These funds will allow us to purchase new equipment that is essential to search deployments, so that we may continue our mission of finding the missing. We are incredibly thankful to our friends at USG Galena Park for their support and generosity.
