The cheapest waste hauler is rarely the cheapest outcome.

Under RCRA Subtitle C, hazardous waste is tracked cradle to grave. It gets classified, coded, and shipped on a manifest from the generator's dock all the way to final disposal, and the generator's name stays on that paper the whole way. A shortcut anywhere along the chain (a wrong waste code, an incomplete shipping paper, a load sent somewhere it shouldn't go) doesn't stay with the vendor who took it.

That's why we run transportation and disposal the way we do:

1. Industrial-grade hazardous and non-hazardous waste, handled by a team trained and equipped for both.
2. Federal and state rules followed as written. They're stringent for a reason.
3. No corners cut, and no pressure on a customer to cut one to save a line item.

Your liabilities become ours to manage, from pickup to final disposal, on time and on budget.

When you vet a disposal partner, what's the first document you ask to see?

The work speaks, and the right people find you.

A major Gulf Coast midstream company came to us straight through our website. Not a broker, not a bid list, not somebody cold-calling a procurement inbox. They read what we do, and they called.

I think about that one a lot, because it's the opposite of how this industry usually tells you to grow. There's no campaign behind it. What's behind it is three decades of jobs done the way we said we'd do them, by crews who didn't cut corners on the days nobody was watching.

That's slow. It's also the only marketing that compounds — every finished job makes the next conversation shorter, and none of it expires when a budget cycle ends.

If you're building an environmental services business: do the work properly, then make it possible for people to find out that you did.

You get somebody who already knows your site.

The national cooperatives are real and they're big, and there's work where that scale is exactly what you want. But scale isn't the same as familiarity.

What we sell is a person who answers at 2 a.m., who has walked your outfalls, and who doesn't need your facility explained before anything useful happens.

That's the whole advantage of being regional. We're not trying to be everywhere. We're trying to be right here.

SPCC and FRP are two different tests, and mixing them up is a common and expensive mistake.

SPCC applies above 1,320 gallons of aggregate aboveground oil storage capacity. The word doing the work there is aggregate — containers of 55 gallons and up count toward the total. Plenty of sites cross the line in drums and totes that nobody ever added together, because no single vessel looked significant.

FRP is not a bigger version of the same threshold. 'Substantial harm' under 40 CFR 112 Appendix C is a set of alternative tests:

— 42,000 gallons or more, with over-water transfer; OR
— 1 million gallons or more without adequate secondary containment; OR
— 1 million gallons or more, with a reportable discharge of 10,000 gallons or more in the past five years.

Note the structure: any one of those triggers it. And the third one is retrospective — a site that qualifies today may have qualified because of something that happened four years ago.

If your storage has grown by accretion rather than by project, the arithmetic is worth redoing this quarter.

If you can hear it, you're already in range.

OSHA and NOAA's joint guidance for outdoor crews is blunter than most people remember: any thunder you hear means lightning is close enough to strike you, and no place outside is safe once the storm is in the area.

The protocol:

— Get to a substantial enclosed building, or a hard-topped vehicle with the windows up.

— Stay there at least 30 minutes after the last thunder.

— Scaffold work, crane hoisting, and work atop walls stop in storms and high winds — that's separate, and it's in the standards.

On the Gulf Coast in September this is a near-daily call, not an annual one. Which is exactly why it needs to be a rule rather than a judgement: a crew that has to argue about it will get it wrong on the day it matters.

$725,710,800.

That's the OPA 90 liability cap for an onshore facility, per incident. A fixed number — not a per-barrel formula, whatever you may have heard.

Here's the part worth knowing: the cap disappears. Gross negligence, willful misconduct, or violating a federal safety or operating regulation, and there is no ceiling at all.

Which makes the boring stuff — inspections, containment, documented procedure — the cheapest insurance on site.

Being in the plan beats being in the phone book.

When something lets go at 2 a.m., nobody wants to be negotiating rates. If we're already in your response plan under an MSA, the scope is agreed, the rates are agreed, and your safety requirements are already written into how we show up.

So the call is about the spill. Not the paperwork.

If we're not in your plan yet, that's a conversation worth having on a calm day. Call us 24/7: (713) 941-2173.

Five feet doesn't sound deep.

It's the line where OSHA requires a protective system in a trench — sloping, benching, shoring, or a box. And under five feet, that call still has to be MADE by a competent person. Not skipped.

Soil doesn't warn you first.

One drum can be enough to placard the truck.

Most hazmat classes don't require vehicle placards until the load crosses 1,001 pounds aggregate. But a short list placards at ANY quantity: explosives (divisions 1.1–1.3), poison gas (2.3), dangerous-when-wet (4.3), inhalation-hazard poisons (6.1), and certain radioactive materials.

And shipping papers ride with every regulated load — legible, in English, with an emergency-response number.

Knowing which list your waste is on is the difference between a compliant load and a roadside violation. (49 CFR 172, Subpart F.) Save this for whoever signs your manifests.
