Over the years newscasters, politicians and scientists trying to warn us about the dangers of climate change have made predictions about future climate consequences - such as, "Some models say the arctic will be ice free on 9 years. " Then in 9 years the arctic was not "ice free". Aha - the whole climate thing is wrong! That would be great if it were true. Unfortunately, it is head-in-the-sand simplistic thinking. The estimates of scientists themselves are more conservative than what makes the newspaper or website headline! However, the key point is that ALL the effects of climate disruption are happening AND it is all happening faster in the past two years than predictions indicated.

EV batteries require cobalt to make the battery's cathode. A small portion of the cobalt mined in the Republic of Congo is mined by individual miners digging with hand tools in pits and dangerous shafts in deplorable conditions. This sad fact is used as an argument against electric vehicles. There is no reason the mining conditions can not be improved. That is, however, a separate issue from our need to replace gas burning engines with much more efficient EVs. The need to stop climate disruption is existential while there is no reason except corporate greed for allowing horrible mining conditions for the artisanal cobalt miners.

Electric vehicles are gaining ground all around the world! EVs are full featured cars, easy to charge, with fun to drive fast acceleration. Note as well, that most EVs are not "self driving" - that is only an add-on for Tesla models!

A billion dollar weather, climate loss is a big disaster! In the last 6 years the number of such loss events in the US is way up from a 43 year average of 8.5 events per year to an average of 21 events per year for the last 6 years! Record hot years for the last three years, global temperatures rising. Our climate is being disrupted as science has predicted, right in step with the rising levels of heat trapping pollution! It is time to get on board and take climate action.


This is a wake-up call for all of us! 🌍✨ Let's unite for a sustainable future and take action before it's too late. What steps are you taking to combat climate change? 💪💚

Insurance rates in Texas are skyrocketing and homeowners are complaining. However, Texas has had 18 billion dollar plus loss events in 2024 alone, capping a steep upward trend over the past few years. Climate disruption has come home with a vengeance. Complaining about insurers may feel good, but only taking action on climate disruption will do any good. How many of those complaining have taken any significant action to help? Write Congress and ask for action and take personal action at home. This will only get worse without our efforts!

2024 looks sure to edge out 2023 as the hottest year on record. Climate disruption must be faced and dealt with. Only your actions count. ACT on the climate -write Congress, take an EV test ride, stop eating beef , or cut way down, take action, be part of the solution.

The Houston Zoo is spreading the word to reduce, reuse, recycle while selling water only in actually recyclable aluminum cans! Aluminum cans, unlike plastic bottle, are really recycled. Pitch in and do your part to eliminate plastic and minimize your footprint on earth!

Did you know: our obsession with manicured lawns took root at the end of the seventeenth century, in Europe. Short mowed lawn became a widespread instrument of social distinction that allowed people to show off their opulence, since having vast expanses of lawns maintained for little or no productive use was a sign of their owner’s excess wealth.
