Schnauzer Rescue of Texas (SRT) exists for the sole purpose of ensuring all Schnauzers and their friends we assist make it to their forever - and perfect - home! Three friends, with different skills and compatible styles, and with a strong, common desire to save lost, neglected and abandoned Schnauzers, pooled their resources and worked together to form Schnauzer Rescue of Texas (SRT). The three Directors leveraged a collective fifteen years of rescue experience to create an organization with one singular purpose – putting Schnauzers in loving homes. SRT was organized with a belief that responsible rescue can be rewarding and fun…and can match loving homes with countless Schnauzers when everyone pulls in a common direction. A leap of faith was taken knowing there would be those who would volunteer their time, their resources and their homes to help create a growing network where Schnauzers could be loved, and healed if necessary, as they await that perfect individual, couple or family to bring them to their forever home. No one in the organization is compensated for their efforts with the exception of the feel-good compensation of knowing the impact that committed individuals can have when focused on a common cause! Every penny we receive goes toward our unwavering mission. Hard to believe this sweet girl is still looking for her forever home!!

Just as her name suggests, Brown Sugar is as sweet as can be! This adorable 3-year-old, 18-pound Shih Tzu/Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix is ready to find a forever family to love. Brown Sugar recently came to Schnauzer Rescue Texas after her beloved senior owner could no longer care for her. While saying goodbye was difficult, her former owner wanted to make sure she had the opportunity to find another wonderful home where she would be cherished. Now fully vetted and ready for adoption, Brown Sugar has quickly won over everyone she's met. She's a friendly, affectionate little girl who gets along beautifully with other dogs and enjoys making new friends. She walks nicely on a leash and loves getting out for leisurely strolls with her people. She's also discovering the joys of using a dog door and is quickly catching on to the freedom of coming and going for potty breaks and backyard adventures. Above all else, Brown Sugar loves being close to her humans. Whether she's snuggled beside you on the couch, curled up at your feet, or soaking up all the cuddles you can give, she's happiest when she's sharing life's quiet moments with the people she loves. UPDATE:

Foster Help Needed !!!

Today, more lives are counting on us to be their bridge to a brighter future. All of these pups need foster homes that can welcome them today, so they can grow in safety and trust before their forever families arrive.

Three pups from a hoarding situation The shelter is calling them Shih Tzu, and we know their story isn’t defined by a label, but by the love we give them now. THESE PUPS WERE TAGGED BY ANOTHER RESCUE.

Two more pups will arrive from Weslaco, surrendered to a shelter there. the female is 10 and the male is 14). The female hopefully has her foster.

A tiny girl dumped in Willis is at our vet, being cared for with gentle hands due to dehydration. SHE HAS HER FOSTER

Several pups are at the vet this week for vaccines and spay/neuters.

Two seniors dumped in Waco are currently with a temporary foster. Will come to Houston if no fosters are found locally.

Foster or adopt, Theo, located in Sugarland, Tx

Meet Theo. A 4 yr old golden doodle that is 49 lbs. This fantasic fellow was turned into us for lack of time. Hes good with other dogs, kids, good in the car, and fantastic to groom and bathe. Coming in we thought we were getting the guy in full coat, but what we actually got was a matted guy who had seen better days. So until he grows out hes naked, but you can see his potential. We also found out that Theo had a broken femur that healed incorrectly and it's too late for us to fix (more harm than good) but it doesn't seem to slow him down. How many times can a little dog’s heart be broken before she finally gets to stay?
Meet Fergie, a beautiful 2-year-old, 17-pound Miniature Schnauzer mix whose young life has already been filled with far more goodbyes than any dog should ever have to endure. Fergie was only 2 months old when she was first surrendered to a shelter. Imagine being just a tiny puppy and already wondering where your family went.
Someone adopted her from the shelter—not to keep her, but with the intention of finding her a forever home. Eventually, that forever home seemed to arrive. But once her family realized just how much work, patience, and training a young puppy requires, Fergie was surrendered again. Then, finally, she found a family who welcomed her into their home. She has been with them for more than a year, long enough to believe that perhaps this was it. Her family. Her home. Her forever.
But sometimes life changes in ways no one expects. Sadly, her family’s circumstances have changed, and Fergie now needs to find a new home. Her owner is absolutely heartbroken to have to make this decision. This isn't because Fergie did something wrong. She is simply a loving little dog who has been caught in circumstances beyond her control. And that's what makes Fergie's story so heartbreaking. Yet despite all the changes, all the uncertainty, and all the people who have come and gone, Fergie is still a sweet, loving girl who wants nothing more than to be loved and included. She is wonderful with other dogs and is house and leash trained. She has also done well with a pre-teen in one of her previous homes. She deserves something very simple: a family that understands that “forever” really means forever. ⚓ All aboard! Meet Captain Skipper! ⚓
Captain Skipper is a handsome 5-year-old, 12-pound Miniature Schnauzer who was rescued from a local shelter and is now enjoying the good life with his foster family. He’s soaking up all the TLC and showing everyone what a sweet little guy he really is!
Skipper is settling in beautifully. He sleeps like a champ in his crate with no accidents and appears to be house trained. He’s also discovering the fun of toys and is beginning to show his playful side. And when playtime is over? This boy is happy to be a little snuggle bug and enjoy some quality time with his people. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home, although he can occasionally be a bit vocal with the bigger dogs—especially when he first comes out of his crate. Once he settles in, he does well with his canine friends. Skipper is also a true Schnauzer at heart and has discovered one of his favorite hobbies: squirrel patrol! He definitely thinks chasing squirrels is serious business! Captain Skipper is a sweet boy who is learning, growing in confidence, and enjoying every bit of his second chance. Now he's ready to find a family who will love him, spoil him, and let him be their favorite little first mate.

Meet Badger, the last one of our adorable Woodland Five: Bramble, Briar, Birch and Clover. He’s 4 months old, about 15 pounds, and already proving that life with Badger is probably never going to be boring. Badger and his four siblings didn’t have the beginning they deserved. They were found locked together in a kennel that someone had left on the side of the street in the hot sun. But those difficult beginnings haven’t taken away this little guy’s spirit. Now that he’s safe with SRT, Badger is busy doing what puppies are supposed to do: playing, exploring, wrestling with his doggy friends, collecting treasures from the backyard, getting lots of love, and napping hard after all that important puppy business. He’s playful and affectionate and gets along with most of the other dogs in his foster home.

Badger is kennel trained and working on house training but doing well with a routine. He also experienced his very first haircut and appears to have survived although the groomers skills could be improved upon.

Badger will need a family ready for all the fun that comes with raising a puppy: continued house training, playtime, patience, and plenty of affection.

If you’re looking for a loving little guy with a big personality, a playful spirit, and his own unique approach to home decorating, Badger may just be your boy.

Foster Needed for Pudding - Houston area

Meet Pudding, a 6-month-old professional wallflower who narrowly escaped a local shelter at the 11th hour.

His crime? Being too scared in a loud, overwhelming place. Honestly, after being let down by his original owners, can you really blame the little guy for being cautious about humans?

Despite his tough-guy shelter record, Pudding is about as intimidating as a marshmallow. His temporary foster reported that he spent his first night hiding from the world, only to decide the very next day that her lap was actually the safest place on earth. Typical puppy logic.

As for his breed? Well... let's just say the shelter's description and reality had a spirited disagreement. We were all a bit surprised when Pudding arrived. Whatever ingredients went into making him, the final product is ridiculously cute.

Pudding just needs a patient foster willing to show him that people can be kind, couches are wonderful, and snacks are plentiful. Once he feels safe, this shy little pup starts letting his sweet personality shine and is a cuddle bug.

Can you give Pudding the soft landing he deserves? He is kennel trained, hasn’t had an accident and is good with other dogs.

New homes for some of our pups!! Thankful to all of the adopters deciding to Adopt rather than Shop! Several adorable pups have found their forever homes: Ho**er, Bob Bentley, Homer, Jeremy, Maritz, Duncan, RC Oliver and Briar. Their new adventures are just beginning, and we couldn’t be happier for them! Here’s to endless cuddles, wagging tails, and all the love they can handle! May their days be filled with playful moments and cozy snuggles.

Update - dunkin is settling in well, but unfortunately is Heartworm positive. He is otherwise is doing well and a playful little guy.

Meet Dunkin (rescued on National Cream-Filled Donut Day 🍩).

When Dunkin's owners moved away, they left him behind. Frightened, neglected, and in rough shape, this little guy was forced to fend for himself. As heartbreaking as that is, we're grateful he now has a chance at the life he deserves.

Dunkin is an approximately 9-year-old, 15-pound Schnauzer. He is a lovable grump with a sweet, gentle personality. He appears to be house trained. Despite everything he's been through, he is friendly, enjoys being around people, and absolutely loves spending time outside soaking up the sunshine.

He has a follow-up appointment tomorrow at Canfel Animal Care (Houston), and afterward he'll need a calm foster home where he can decompress and be spoiled a little. We suspect he may have some hind leg pain that will need a bit of TLC, but we're waiting for the veterinarian to confirm. The good news is that it doesn't stop him from getting around or playing with his friends.

Can you open your home to Dunkin while he begins his fresh start? A quiet place, a soft bed, and a little patience could make all the difference for this deserving senior boy.
