Mentor the next generation of musicians! 🎻
Our Coda Music Program is seeking HYS violin, viola, and cello players to join us as Coda Mentors for our 2026-27 season!

Coda Mentors will serve as role models for our elementary school musicians, working alongside Coda teaching staff during Saturday rehearsals. Mentors will help young musicians with everything from instrument preparation and basic technique to learning their music, all while sharing their own experiences as HYS musicians. 🎶

📅 Saturday rehearsals: October 24, November 14, February 27 & March 27
⏰ 9:30–11:30 a.m.
🎻 Up to 6 mentors selected at each location
📋 Interest form due September 13

*Note: Only our HISD location has cello.*

We are excited to present this season's T-Shirt design submissions! Voting is officially open and will close on Monday, July 20, at 9:00AM. Winning design will be announced on Tuesday, July 21. 📅

📣 Are you a HYS musician who is also interested in graphic design or visual art? Then we want you! ✅

Contest Timeline:
1. Artwork submission deadline is Thursday, July 16 at 9:00AM.
2. Voting starts on Friday, July 17 and ends on Monday, July 20 at 9:00AM.
3. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, July 21st.

Submit your artwork for our 2026/27 T-Shirt Design Contest! The winning design will appear on the back of the HYS 2026/27 season t-shirt!

2026/2027 T-Shirt Theme: Celebrating 80 Years of HYS!

Guidelines:
• Artwork should be 8.5”x11” (portrait orientation) for the back of a t-shirt.
• Artwork must be black and white (the ultimate design will use black or white ink depending on t-shirt colors).
• The design must include “2026-2027 Season”
• Artwork must be submitted as a PNG file.
• All participants must be current 2026-27 HYS musicians
• Theme (above) must be incorporated into the design.

*HYS reserves the right to disqualify any inappropriate t-shirt designs*

Deadline:
📅 Submit your artwork by Thursday, July 16th at 9:00AM to [email protected].

Voting:

We can’t wait to welcome our musicians for the 80th Anniversary Season of HYS and celebrate this milestone year together. Here’s to another season of making music and making HYS-tory! 🎺🎻

🎓 Congratulations to all of our seniors!
From the first out-of-tune rehearsal to the final standing ovation. Our seniors have officially taken their final bows with us. We can’t wait to see you bring harmony to the rest of the world!
