How are SIFs, SSIs and flexibility factors from ASME B31J actually applied in real piping stress models?

On 24 March, our CTO Nikola Jacimovic, PhD, Eur Ing, and ASME B31.3 Code Committee Member, will lead a live online workshop explaining the practical application of ASME B31J in piping flexibility analysis.

24 March 2026
14:00 to 16:00 CET
Live online workshop hosted by EngineeringTrainer

This session is intended for engineers involved in piping stress analysis and flexibility assessments according to ASME B31.3.

During the workshop you will learn how to:

• Understand B31J SIF and SSI formulations and flexibility factors
• Quantify the effect on sustained and displacement stresses
• Apply SIFs and SSIs at the correct model nodes
• Recognize common B31J modeling pitfalls in software
• Derive factors using shell and brick FEA models
• Interpret FEA results using the twice-elastic-slope concept

The workshop focuses on how B31J SIFs, SSIs and flexibility factors are implemented in piping stress models and how they influence flexibility and stress results in real piping systems.
