All Children Count

All Children Count 501(c)3 nonprofit organization providing vulnerable children in Ethiopia access to a quality education

We connect children and teachers to an education support system.

1. We provide English classes to lower primary grade level students and their teachers to promote English proficiency, success in school and the community.
2. We provide uniforms and school supplies to socioeconomically disadvantaged children.
3. We provide continuing education opportunities for pre-primary and primary grade school

teachers.
4. We promote education enrichment in English and Math through multi-day enrichment camps.
5. We conduct monthly pop-up library events where we take the books to the children. This includes story time, a craft activity, and an opportunity for children to read a variety of interesting books in English, Amharic and Afaan Oromo languages.

🌍 Join Us in Ethiopia – 2027 Mission Trip!

We’re so excited to share that our next All Children Count mission trip will take place April 28 – May 7, 2027 (including travel days)!

This is more than a trip—it’s a chance to see the impact firsthand, connect with incredible students and teachers, and experience the heart of Ethiopia.

During the trip, you’ll:
✨ Visit our partner schools
✨ Meet the students we serve
✨ See our programs in action
✨ Connect with local teachers and communities
✨ Experience Ethiopia’s beautiful culture and hospitality

💛 Bonus: This trip takes place during Ethiopian Easter (Fasika)—one of the most important and vibrant holidays in the country!

And because it’s just before Mother’s Day, it can be a really special experience to share. On past trips, we’ve had mother-daughter pairs join us—and they’ve called it truly life-changing.

We’ll be hosting an informational webinar in July to share all the details (cost, itinerary, and more).

If you’re even a little curious, we’d love for you to learn more!

📖✨ Building a Reading Culture One Celebration at a Time ✨📖

At All Children Count, we believe donating books is only the beginning. Children also need opportunities to engage with those books, build confidence, and experience the joy of reading aloud.

That’s why we recently launched a new event called the ACC Reading Celebration at two schools where books were recently donated.

More than 1,000 students from Grades 1–4 attended the celebrations. In preparation, teachers nominated student readers from each class, and classmates voted for who would represent them by reading in English or Afaan Oromo. The selected students practiced their reading passages with support from both teachers and peers and prepared to answer comprehension questions about the text.

The celebration day was filled with excitement and encouragement. We started with music and movement activities, including “Roly Poly,” to energize the students for storytime. We then shared the beloved children’s book From Head to Toe by Eric Carle before inviting our “Super Readers” to the front.

The students exceeded expectations. They demonstrated confidence, strong pronunciation, expression, and comprehension while reading in front of hundreds of their peers.

The event ended with snacks, smiley face stickers, and countless smiles.

These moments matter. Reading aloud builds confidence. Community celebration builds motivation. And access to books helps children discover their voices.

We are proud of every student, teacher, and school that made this event such a success.

We just finished the final class of our second group in the ACC 8-week teacher training series! 🎓

This training focused on English grammar, vocabulary, and practical teaching techniques.

In our 8th and final session, teachers gave mini-teaching presentations using the topics they learned throughout the program. It was exciting to see many of them try out new strategies—especially ways to engage students more actively in the classroom (they even taught us as their “students”!).

Each teacher also received the ACC English Listening Lab curriculum—over 70 lessons and 600+ pages of ready-to-use materials.

This final session showed real growth for many teachers, and for others, it highlighted areas they are now motivated to improve. Either way, it was a powerful and encouraging finish.

Next month we will host a certificate ceremony to celebrate their completion.

We are also looking forward to visiting all 14 schools to see these teachers in action in their classrooms! 👏📚

💛 WHAT A SEAT MEANS 💛

A seat is more than a chair. It represents belonging, opportunity, and education. For a child, having a seat in a classroom can mean hope for the future — a chance to learn, grow, and dream bigger. One simple seat can help change a life.

Beyond Education: Caring for the Whole Child 💛

At All Children Count, education is our heart and our mission. But we also know something important—children cannot learn well when their basic needs are not met.

Because of your support, we were recently able to step in and help three families in very real and urgent ways.

We met Aster and Habebo while they were collecting plastic bottles on the street to help support their families. With your generosity, we were able to provide each of them with an emergency food packet of teff (for injera) and shiro. This will help sustain their family for about 3 months.

We also supported one of our long-time beneficiaries after their home was damaged in a rare and severe ice storm. Rain was coming through the roof, leaving the family vulnerable. We were able to help repair the roof and restore safety to their home.

Education is our focus—but the child is our priority.

Thank you for making it possible for us to not only educate, but to also care, respond, and support families in times of need.
