🎫 CLARISSA
The film follows society woman Clarissa as she prepares to host a party at her home in Lagos, Nigeria, where she will unexpectedly encounter once-intimate friends from her youth. As the group reflects on their shared past over a single night, memories of their intricate relationships, passionate love, hidden desires, and lost aspirations lead to a bittersweet reckoning.

🎫 THE BLOOD COUNTESS
France’s most iconic actress, Isabelle Huppert, takes on a role she was born to play: a meticulous blood-sucking vampire. After the titular Blood Countess awakens from a decades-long slumber, she reunites with her devoted maid (Birgit Minichmayr) and ventures across Vienna in search of the red elixir of life. With a wild cast of characters, including a vegetarian nephew, vampirologists, and a psychotherapist, The Blood Countess brings prolific director Ulrike Ottinger’s maximalist style to a deadpan comedy.

The festival concludes with the 12th annual CineSpace short film competition, presented in collaboration with NASA. This unique competition invites international filmmakers to create films using imagery and footage from NASA's archives. Winners will be announced and awarded a cash prize. Filmmaker Richard Linklater, along with a jury from the Houston Cinema Arts Society and NASA, will select the winning films.

Is it possible in 2026 to invent a whole new visual film language? Patrick Wang explores how simple questions that awaken the emotional core of a scene can open new ways of seeing, and how old principles and early film techniques can still inspire the cinema of our time. Tickets are $12 + fees.

On what would have been William Greaves’s 100th birthday, we are proud to screen his newly restored 16mm record of a remarkable 1972 gathering of the living luminaries of the Harlem Renaissance, now directed by his son David Greaves.
