Turning vision into action

Rana highlighted what impact looks like beyond conversation, translating strategy into programs, partnerships, and measurable community outcomes.

Over the past three years, Amel Association USA has organized three successful free medical days serving underserved and refugee communities in Houston in partnership with renowned Arab American physicians and professionals. The latest medical campaign held in partnership with the National Arab-American Medical Association (NAAMA) and the Arab American Community Center (ACC), delivering critical healthcare access, financial and housing education and meaningful support to hundreds of families through an “New Comers to Houston city” guide.

The discussion also highlighted Amel’s growing focus on proactive emergency response and preparedness through its latest partnership with FORUS International, aimed at securing emergency aid and strengthening readiness efforts ahead of hurricane season to better support vulnerable communities during times of crisis.

Because meaningful change is not only discussed, it is built, implemented, and sustained.

Thank you for demonstrating what action, preparedness, and long-term community investment truly require.

Vasudha Aggarwal | Empowerment & People

At the heart of every system are people.

Through her leadership in Amel’s coaching initiatives, Vasudha highlighted the importance of investing in individuals — equipping them with the tools, confidence, and support to lead.

True impact is not only institutional — it is personal.

A reminder that empowerment at the individual level creates ripple effects across entire communities.

Dr. Nidal Moukaddam | Community Leadership

Leadership lives within the community.

Dr. Nidal Moukaddam — President of the National Arab-American Medical Association, Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, and Director at Ben Taub Hospital — brought both expertise and urgency to the conversation.

Her message was clear: meaningful impact requires alignment, coordination, and long-term thinking.

In moments like these, leadership is not centralized — it is shared.

Grateful for your continued commitment to both community and care.

Terry Virts | Global Perspective

A perspective few can offer — from space to humanity.

Colonel Terry Virts, former International Space Station Commander and Space Shuttle pilot, brought a global lens to a deeply human issue.

From orbit, there are no borders — only one shared planet.

His reflections reminded us that our challenges are interconnected, and so is our responsibility to respond.

A powerful shift from geography to humanity.

Dr. Zeina Mohanna | Data & Urgency

Insight met urgency through the voice of Dr. Zeina Mohanna live streaming from Lebanon.

As a Board Member at Amel Association International, Oxford scholar in Forced Migration, and Professor at the American University of Beirut, her perspective bridged research and reality.

The data she presented was clear — but more importantly, human.

Behind every number is a life disrupted. A family navigating uncertainty.

Her message: awareness alone is insufficient. It must lead to action, advocacy, and sustained commitment.

Dr. Kamel Mohanna | Leadership & Perspective

A defining moment of the evening — a powerful record address by Dr. Kamel Mohanna, from Beirut city.

His message was both grounding and forward-looking: leadership is not built in moments of crisis alone — it is built in the systems, institutions, and communities we strengthen long before.

A perspective shaped by decades of humanitarian work, reminding us that preparedness is the foundation of resilience.

Thank you for bringing clarity, conviction, and direction to the conversation.

Assaad Mohanna | Purpose & Vision

We didn’t come together for a moment — we came together for a purpose.

Under the leadership of Assaad Mohanna, President of Amel USA and founder of the Houston-based Leadership Coaching Program in partnership with HISD and Rice University, this gathering set the tone for what collective action can look like.

“This past week, our community stood in solidarity with Lebanon — not only to reflect, but to ask a critical question: what comes next?

The answer lies in unity, collaboration, and sustained effort.

Grateful to everyone who showed up, contributed, and continues to care.
This is only the beginning.”
