Amel Association International – Houston at Capitol Hill
This week, Amel Association International – Houston proudly joined fellow Arab American organizations from across the United States in Washington, D.C. for the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC) Convention and Advocacy Days on Capitol Hill.
As part of a nationwide coalition of community leaders, advocates, and nonprofit organizations, Amel participated in discussions, training sessions, and meetings with Congressional offices to elevate the voices and priorities of Arab American communities. The event reflects NNAAC’s mission to strengthen civic engagement, advocacy, and community empowerment while addressing issues that impact Arab Americans locally and nationally.
Representing the Houston community, Amel highlighted the importance of equitable access to education, healthcare, workforce development, humanitarian support, and community services. The delegation also shared the impact of grassroots initiatives that empower underserved families, support refugees and newcomers, and build stronger, more resilient communities.
Advocacy is not only about policy—it is about ensuring that the experiences, needs, and contributions of our communities are heard by decision-makers. Through collaboration with fellow NNAAC member organizations, Amel continues to advance a vision of dignity, inclusion, and service that strengthens both our local communities and our nation.
We are honored to stand alongside dedicated advocates from across the country and grateful for the opportunity to represent Houston on the national stage.
Together, we build bridges, amplify community voices, and work toward a future where every community has the opportunity to thrive.
