UPDATED HOURS CHANGE:

To hopefully accommodate the schedules of more in our community, we are adjusting our hours starting this next week. (The week of August 23, 2026)

We will now be closed on Mondays and open longer hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. And Thursdays we will only be open for half a day.

We hope that this will allow more individuals to participate in classes, workshops, and activities!

Be careful in this heat. The next few days are expected to be extreme also. Stay hydrated and cool as you can.

A message from the Charlotte County Department of Public Safety. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for our area today July 1st. Please check on your elderly neighbors and friends during this heat wave. Make sure your pets have plenty of water and shade. If you must work outside during this weather remember to stay hydrated, pace yourself, and take frequent breaks to help prevent heat exhaustion which can lead to a more serious heat stroke. To help those that do not have access to air conditioning the following firehouses will be open during the day today as cooling shelters

DORTHIEA PRICE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Helping Adult Learners Reach Their GED Goals

The Dorthiea Price Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory and legacy of Dorthiea Price by helping adult learners overcome barriers to education.

The scholarship is designed to assist eligible GED students with obstacles that may prevent them from completing their educational journey, including GED testing fees and other approved educational expenses.

GED PREPARATION CLASSES
Mondays & Wednesdays
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Current Focus: Reading Skills for GED Success
Students will build reading comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking, and test-taking skills using materials drawn from:
• Civics and History
• Nonfiction Articles
• Essays and Informational Texts

The class also incorporates strategies for understanding and solving word problems, helping students strengthen the reading and comprehension skills needed for the math portion of the GED.

What a beautiful day we had! Day 2 of the Poet Tree Faire! Here are some of the many pictures to come of the day. There's plenty of room to grow for next year. From what I heard, everyone that attended and participated had a wonderful time. I know I did.

A special thanks to the amazing vendors, performers, and demonstration experts that helped make this event happen. And a special thanks to our sponsors for helping us with being able to host this first time event!
