Before Christ we are all slaves to sin. We are under a bo***ge that we cannot break. Therefore, for us to be free, we must rely on God’s grace to break the chains that trap us. Through Christ the chains are broken. Moreover, our status is changed from slave to son (of God). With sonship we are now heirs to a glorious inheritance. We are finally free to live!

Righteousness is God’s desire for every person. The problem is that we cannot be righteous on our own, no matter how good we think we are. The Law is a teacher. We learn that it is impossible to keep the Law, which means that we can never be good enough. We must not forget the lesson the Law teaches, so that through humility we rely on the only true Salvation. The cross of Jesus Christ!

Yes, we are justified in Christ. However, even the best Christians can slip into some stinkin’ thinkin’. When that happens, we confront the sin that is confronting us. Peter was an Apostle. Peter was also human. Humans are sometimes gullible. Peter had a lot of people in his ear convincing him that Gentiles needed to adopt Jewish tradition to be saved. Paul not only confronts Peter to his face, but clarifies to him and now us, that it is in Christ alone that we are justified. Jesus + nothing = everything!

Just like Abraham, we sometimes try to take the reigns away from God and “help” him. To be bewitched is to be manipulated. We are deceived when we think that we can do anything to save ourselves. It is foolishness to think so. May we realize our total dependance on Jesus Christ and draw near to Him as our Savior. In Christ Alone!

Why do people have to make it so hard to be saved? Rituals, rules and regulations are prominent in every religion. And churches are not immune. Thankfully, Christianity is not a religion…it is a faith. God clearly says in Ephesians 2 that is by grace we have been saved through faith in Jesus Christ. That is it! But since some want to make salvation complicated, then there must be others who will push back on the nonsense. Ones that will proclaim liberty (not bo***ge) through Jesus Christ as God intended. Fighting for freedom, they become freedom fighters!
