For veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders, a day outdoors can mean more than recreation. It can be a chance to reconnect, find community, and experience a sense of peace that's hard to find elsewhere.

Last Friday was National Day of Service. The Tidewater chapter was honored to be served by the local Northwestern mutual employees. These men and women helped scrub and clean our fleet of kayaks and organize our gear trailer, getting us ready for our upcoming event on the 20th! Thank you so much for helping us be prepared to serve the heroes of our community.

I would like to introduce our newest addition to the Tidewater Fleet the Bonafide XTR130. We spent the day at Big Adventures Factory store rigging this amazing kayak for the water. We cannot be more pleased with the XTR130 from Bonafide. Thank you to Hans Nutz and the whole Bonafide team for making this possible. The XTR130 is truly one of the most versatile, and stable platforms that we have ever had the opportunity to take on the water. This platform will allow us to safely bring those that have more significant physical challenges on the water for a relaxing day with family and friends. Whether we are using it to quickly check on all participants and volunteers on the water or rigging it for a tandem ride the XTR130 is up to any challenge we put in front of her. Thank you Big Adventure and Bonafide kayaks for seeing the importance of the work we do for our Heroes.

For many of us, that's become surprisingly rare.
Life moves fast. Responsibilities pile up. The noise never seems to stop.

For those who have served in the military or as first responders, that pace can feel even more familiar. Always focused on what's next. Always prepared for what's coming.

But now more than ever, there's value in slowing down long enough to simply be where you are, enjoy a conversation, appreciate a quiet moment, and spend time with people who understand your experiences.

Sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do is give ourselves permission to be present.

We were able to present a military coin to Terry at the IOC thanking her for her years of support. She is the honorary mom of the Heroes On the Water Tidewater Chapter. We could not be anywhere near as successful as we are without the support of the IOC.

Heroes On the Water Tidewater Chapter had the pleasure of hosting the 128th Aviation Brigade's officers for a mid week Leader development session. Col. Holcroft brought his commanders out to for some fellowship and relaxation on the water. Our resident wood carver Roberrt presented Col. Holcroft with a carving. A special thank you to our volunteers who were able to make a midweek event possible through their hard work and dedication. Doogie, Troy, Bob, Rick, and Brody made the event smooth and easy
