The feral cats from the colony in Keysville have been spayed/neutered and had their rabies shots. They are ready to be rehomed. They need to be adopted in pairs (for companionship and a feeling of safety), be confined two or three weeks (to get used to smells, sounds, mark/scent their territory), and when they are ready to be released from their confinement, it needs to be done at night so they can explore their new surroundings. Even though they will be working cats (mousers), they still need a source of food and water, and of course, shelter. It is recommended that, if possible, they be confined where their bedding/food will be placed. Anyway, I have printed this information from a feral cat society and will supply it as needed. If you or anyone you know would like two (or more which would be great), I can be contacted at [email protected] (please use subject line Barn Cats). Or stop by Tailwaggers, I am usually there on Saturday. I will be glad to bring them to you.
Thanks,

A number of feral cats have been trapped in the Keysville area and are slated for Spay/Neuter/ rabies shots beginning Jan. 21. Until then they are safe, warm and being fed. If you would like some beautiful barn cats or know of someone who would, please contact me at Tailwaggers. If I am not there, someone can give you my contact info; however, being an old, well, you know what I want to say, I don’t text! After their surgery they will be ready to go, and I will make arrangements to bring them to you.
According to one feral cat organization, at least two should go together. They need to be kept enclosed at least two weeks, three is better, preferably in the environment where they are to live, i.e., the barn as long as they can’t escape. It is also advisable not to open up to let them roam if it is raining because cats use their sense of smell to find where they belong. If requested, I will print this info from Cats’ Cradle. They have been great in advising me about this whole process. I also want to thank Southside SPCA and Tailwaggers for footing the Spay/Neuter bill. Just think how many kittens won’t be born this spring and left to the elements.
Trapping is hard work!!!!

We would like to thank everyone for their continued support throughout the year.
