76th Regiment of Foot, MacDonald's Highlanders

76th Regiment of Foot, MacDonald's Highlanders National Park Service."

"The 76th Regiment Of Foot is a group of like-minded individuals who share an interest in Colonial American history, focusing in on the Scottish military aspects of the British Army in North America during the American War of Independence. We attempt to accurately recreate a single unit, the MacDonald Highlanders, and portray it at various events in the Virginia area, the same area that the 76th p

rimarily operated in during its time in North America. The 76th endeavors to provide an accurate depiction of the American War of Independence from the perspective of Scottish Soldiers in service of the British Army and seeks to enhance the public's understanding of this momentous juncture in American History through participation in public living history, military campaign re-enactment and educational venues. The 76th Regiment of Foot performs educational programs and demonstrations, free of charge, for various non-profit historical, cultural, educational and governmental organizations including public schools, libraries, museums and the U.S.

It is with great sadness that I must report the passing of the past president of the 76th Regiment of Foot, Inc., John Giere. He was a true gentleman, kind, generous, and a leader of men. He was a friend to all and always made us proud. He will be missed and not forgotten. Flowers of the Forest.

For all you loyal colonists, we continue to await disembarkation of our troops ships at New York due to the reports of ongoing small pox epidemic in the North America colonies. There are rumors of recent successful effects of innoculation of troops with cow pox, but it remains to be seen whether the 76th Regiment will receive this. We are being supplied with provisions and fresh water, are wearing our regimental coats reversed to avoid soiling with soiling by the tar so prevalent aboard ship, and have been busying ourselves with cutlass practice with the sailors and learning what seafaring skills they offer. But, never fear, you are constantly in our thoughts, and we are anxious to demonstrate to you our valour and determination to defeat the rebels and and end their crimes and depredations against those colonists who remain loyal and support King and Country. Due to the Corona Virus the 76th Regiment of Foot has postponed the landing of troop transports in New York for the year 1779. We greatly regret the need for this delay in providing a restoration of the peace to the North American Colonies, but assure all loyal Americans that as soon as possible we will renew our efforts to subdue the rebels and provide protection to all of the King's loyal subjects. Please be be patient and remain calm- help is on the way!
