teachings of Jesus can lead to an awareness and experience of the Sacred and the Oneness and Unity of all life;

2. Affirm that the teachings of Jesus provide but one of many ways to experience the Sacredness and Oneness of life, and that we can draw from diverse sources of wisdom in our spiritual journey;

3. Seek community that is inclusive of ALL people, including but not limited to:
Conventional Christians and questioning skeptics,
Believers and agnostics,
Women and men,
Those of all sexual orientations and gender identities,
Those of all classes and abilities;

4. Know that the way we behave towards one another is the fullest expression of what we believe;

8. Commit to a path of life-long learning, compassion, and selfless love. We meet to worship God in community every Sunday at 10:00 am. We welcome children to church school at that time, too. Shirley May Kistner
May 11, 1923 - Mar 26, 2026

Shirley Kistner, age 102, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, in her apartment at Presbyterian Homes, Beacon Hill Commons.

Shirley was born on May 11, 1923, to Cecil and Florence (Westling) Sundquist. She grew up in Hopkins, Minnesota, with her dad, mom and sister, Lorraine (Beversdorf). Shirley met her husband, Charles Kistner, in Alaska where he was stationed in the service. They were later married in Hopkins on September 14, 1946. They raised a family of six children together. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Florence; her beloved husband, Charles; her brother-in-law, Francis (Bever) Beversdorf; her son, Tim; and her sister, Lorraine.

Shirley Kistner, at 46 days short of 103 years old, was a loving daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, aunt and (great; great-great) grandmother. She loved the Vikings ("her boys"), making personalized Christmas stockings, VFW and Legion auxiliary, traveling, cribbage, shanghai and lots of other card games, bingo, pull tabs, eTabs, gin and tonics (with LOTS of olives), Baileys and coffee, homemade moonshine, dining out, teasing people, game shows and Lawrence Welk, the newspaper, People magazine, singing and laughing. But most of all family and friends!

Kids: Karen (David), Mark (Anneliese), Dan (Sue), Scott (Shelly), Billy (Jody), Tim (Stephanie); Grandkids: Heidi (Chris), Chris (Deb), Shannon (Josh), Mia (Matt), Adrienne (Alan), Mark (Jeanne), Heather, Sara (Chad), Dennis, Shawn, Julie (Todd), Jamie (Jason), Katie (Aaron), Peter, Tracy, Stacy, Erin (Mickey), Tyler "Amos" (Marie), Francie (Sam), Grace, Ashley; Great Grandkids: Breanna, Brandon (Tamara), Dylan (Amy), Sydney (Clay), Austin (Ashley), Justin, Dallas, Kylie, Shayna (Gaven), Aubree, Parker (Maggie), Ashlyn (Daunte), Megan, Kira, Ariana, Kahne, Decker, Deegan, Andrew, Maria, Jay, Amanda, Bailey, Berlin, Makayla, Tommy, Riley, Taylor, Emery, Madi, Blayne, Elodie, Gabe, Ethan; Great, Great Grandkids: Jayden, Summer, Adeline, Alex

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, March 31 at Washburn-McReavy Hopkins Chapel. Visitation at 10:00am, with a VFW Auxiliary Ritual at 10:45am. The service will begin at 11:00am, and reception at Hopkins VFW - George R. Wolff Post #425 at 12:00pm. Burial at Grandview Park Cemetery afterwards.
