Teaming Up For Teens

Teaming Up For Teens Providing Local Teens with "Teen Support Packs" through High School Counselors and other community programs on a monthly basis.

Teaming Up for Teens (TUp4T) currently provides local teens with "Teen Support Packs" filled with much needed hygiene products, local information and other supplies through their schools and other community programs on a monthly basis. We have made a commitment to
reach out to homeless and at risk
Teens in our local community who, at a crucial time in their lives, need the extra help and encouragement to stay in school and prepare for
adulthood.

Thank you to the Hopkins Park Boys Lacrosse team for their help in putting together over 285 food packs for kids in our local schools!

Many children rely on being fed at school and some could use a little extra food over the two week holiday break. Teaming Up For Teens provides food packs to help kids during this time.

The Hopkins Elks Lodge provided much of the funding through an Elks National Foundation (ENF) Grant for the packs as well as private donations.

Food insecurity continues to be a problem in our community and we are here to help. On Monday, December 15th we will be packing up and delivering to local schools over 280 food packs to help sustain kids over the holidays. Here is a sample of what is included in each pack.

How can you help? Donations of food items and/or funds is always appreciated. You can:

- drop off donations at the Hopkins Elks Lodge at 30 - 8th Ave S, Hopkins
- donate online at www.teamingupforteens.org
- mail a donation to Teaming Up For Teens PO Box 5653, Hopkins, MN 55343

No one should go hungry over the holidays - particularly our children.

We had a community packing event with some residents of the Bloomington Presbyterian Home. They put together hygiene packs that we handed out at our
informational table at the Minnetonka School District's Family Resource Night. We handed out the packs of deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste and talked to families about our program.

Youth homelessness is a complex issue. There are many reasons why kids may no longer able to live at home including but not limited to:
• Substance abuse (by the child or often the parent)
• Divorce
• Physical or emotional abuse
• Neglect
• Being put out of the home due to sexual orientation, mental health issues and/or learning disabilities.
• Foster kids being put out of the house once they turn 18
• And many others...

The youth are eating, showering and sleeping at school, friends’ homes, other families homes, or even at strangers’ homes. Couch hopping is common. They spend nights outside seeking shelter wherever they can. They cling to their studies and hopes for a future while their security and home life crumble. We want to reach these kids before they are drawn into higher risk areas or situations.

We don't judge why a child is homeless or on the brink of homelessness, we are simply here to help them get the resources they need to move forward. There are some great local resources such as MoveFwdMN, myHealth and Hope House that all have programs for youth in need or in crisis.

Help us be part of the solution and keep our kids safe and healthy

Our mission is to provide hygiene items and other seasonal items to homeless youth or youth at risk of homelessness in our west Metro community so they can actively participate in school and thrive! We offer "packs" of products containing:

Shampoo
Conditioner
Body Wash
Toothpaste
Toothbrush(es)
Deodorant
Laundry detergent
Lotion
Razors
Feminine products
Lip balm

We also provide these products individually to schools and other youth non-profits if they utilize a “closet” method of supplies.

The kids can get fed at school but hygiene items are often overlooked in the variety of social services offered in the community. Our goal is to fill this niche and keep our kids clean and healthy

Check out our web site at http://www.teamingupforteens.org for more information on the program or how you can help.
