Over 100 Chesterton Academies are in operation and under development worldwide. Thanks be to God!

Dale Ahlquist, president of the Chesterton Society, announced with joy from the Summit main stage that there are now more than 100 Chesterton Academies in operation and under development worldwide. It's an achievement he never expected when he co-founded the original Chesterton Academy in the Twin Cities, together with his fellow parishioner Tom Bengtson.

Live weekly Rosary with the Society of G.K. Chesterton. Pray along with us!

G.K. Chesterton wrote in 1926 that “the heart of Christendom is a heart,” and in this week’s episode of Uncommon Sense, Joe and Grettelyn discover that this single line unlocks the entire Chestertonian approach to apologetics.

Recording just before the U.S. bishops’ historic consecration of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Joe and Grettelyn trace the providential thread connecting two Pope Leos, a 1926 essay from G.K.’s Weekly, and Chesterton’s lifelong practice of winning opponents through friendship and wonder.

Today is the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In Chesterton’s words, “The heart of Christendom is a heart; and we are serious when we call it a sacred heart.” Chesterton always understood the importance of the Sacred Heart, Our Lord’s Divine Mercy, and the deep meaning of the paradox that God loves humanity with a love both Divine and human.

Yesterday, the USCCB consecrated the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Let’s all follow Chesterton’s wisdom and example and renew our devotion to Christ's Sacred Heart.

Is classroom technology hurting our kids?

Across the U.S., schools are reversing a decade of tech-first policy. The Pennsylvania House just passed a bipartisan cell phone ban. Kansas became the 33rd state to ban phones and is now limiting laptops. And in states like Maine, studies show that technology adoption does not lead to better outcomes.

Recently on Uncommon Sense, Joe Grabowski and Grettelyn Darkey dug into the damage screens are doing in the classroom and what to do about it.

A low-tech environment has always been the foundation of the Chesterton Schools Network. The danger is that when a machine does a student's thinking, the student stops growing. The struggle is precisely where growth lives.

The removal of technology from school classrooms is not a deprivation of learning skills, but a clearing of space – for attention, conversation, and mental work – so real learning can thrive!
