sailing camp is serious(ly) fun ⚓️⛵️

kids learn to take sailing seriously. they pay attention to the wind, learn new skills, challenge themselves, and take responsibility for their boats.

but they don’t take themselves too seriously.

there’s plenty of laughing, joking around on the docks, celebrating small victories, and making friends along the way.

that’s part of what makes sailing camp so special. kids learn independence and responsibility while still having an absolute blast. they learn when to focus, when to work hard, and when to enjoy the moment.

those lessons don’t just help them become better sailors. they help them navigate life both on and off the water. 💙⛵

if you’ve ever wanted to learn how to sail, or if it’s been a while since you’ve been at the helm, our adult sailing lessons are the perfect place to start.

join us for a fun evening on the water as you learn the fundamentals of sailing alongside other adults in a relaxed, supportive environment. Taught aboard our stable and comfortable J22 keelboats, these classes provide plenty of hands on experience and individualized instruction.
you’ll learn sailing terminology, boat parts, points of sail, maneuvers, rules of the road, and all aspects of boat handling while spending approximately five hours on the water each week.

whether you’re checking a lifelong goal off your list or brushing up on existing skills, there’s no better time to get started. The wind is waiting. 💙⛵

one week down, a whole summer of adventures to go ⚓️☀️

after an incredible first week on the water, we’re reminded why summer sailing is so special. new skills, new friendships, fresh confidence, and plenty of wind-filled days on Lake Macatawa.

but the best part? we’re just getting started.

the first session may be in the books, but there’s still an entire summer ahead filled with sailing, racing, exploring, learning, and making memories that last long after the boats are put away for the season.

there’s still time to sign your kids up for sailing camp, and if you’ve ever wanted to learn yourself, we offer adult sailing classes too. it’s never too late to discover where the wind can take you. 💙⛵

session two starts tomorrow and we couldn’t be more excited! ⚓️☀️

every new sailing session brings fresh opportunities for adventure, growth, and discovery on Lake Macatawa.

there’s something special about learning a skill that’s entirely your own. each time a sailor masters a new maneuver, catches the wind just right, or takes the helm with confidence, they learn a little more about what they’re capable of.

but sailing is never just about the individual. it’s also about teamwork. it’s about encouraging each other, solving problems together, and building friendships that often last long after summer ends.

and somewhere along the way, those first lessons on the water become lifelong skills. skills that build confidence, independence, resilience, and a love of sailing that can last a lifetime.

the first session of sailing camp has been everything we hoped for and more 💙⚓️

new sailors are finding their confidence, friendships are already forming, and Lake Macatawa is once again filled with the energy, laughter, and excitement that make summer at MBJA so special.

there’s nothing quite like watching kids learn new skills, challenge themselves, and discover what they’re capable of out on the water.

if this first session is any indication, we’re in for an incredible summer. we can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store ☀️⛵

learning to sail isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.

it’s the hard stuff.

it’s learning what to do when the wind changes. it’s figuring out how to get yourself back into the boat after a capsize. it’s making decisions, solving problems, and discovering that you’re capable of more than you thought.

it’s the figure-it-out-along-the-way stuff. the keep-going-even-when-it’s-hard stuff…. and somehow, that’s exactly what makes it all sunshine and rainbows in the end. ☀️🌈

because the confidence, resilience, independence, and grit kids build on the water don’t stay on the water. they become lessons that last a lifetime. and that might be the best thing sailing teaches of all. 💙⚓️

one of the greatest gifts sailing gives young people isn’t learning how to navigate a boat, it’s learning how to navigate life.

out on the water, kids learn to make decisions, solve problems, adapt when conditions change, and keep moving forward when things don’t go according to plan. they learn confidence, resilience, teamwork, and leadership along the way.

these are lessons that have been passed down from sailor to sailor for generations. from instructors to campers, from older teammates to younger ones, each generation helping the next build skills that extend far beyond the dock.

every parent wants to give their child a leg up in life. sailing just happens to teach many of those skills while having an incredible amount of fun on the water. 💙⚓️
