Friends of Lili'uokalani Gardens

Friends of Lili'uokalani Gardens Member, North American Japanese Garden Association; assists Hawai'i County Dept. Parks & Recreation

Dedicated to fostering (improving and maintaining) a 24-acre cultural landscape, which celebrated the centennial of construction (1917 & 1918) and centennial of opening to the public (1919). Volunteer activities and festive events are planned throughout the year to celebrate Lili`uokalani, the Queen and her Legacy, and honor the traditions of the Hilo community.

Tree trimmers continue their rounds throughout Lili’uokalani Gardens. Here overgrown w**d trees such as Treena orientalis are removed along the boundary with the ice company. That’s a good 20-30 feet added back to park use. (An O’Callaghan photos)
