A few days ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from Mauna Loa elementary School to Nā Leo TV 🎥✨

The students got a behind-the-scenes look into the world of community media — from cameras and studio production to editing and storytelling. Always awesome sharing what we do and inspiring the next generation of creators here on Hawaiʻi Island 🤙

In this episode of ʻŌpio Media Makers, we feature Ho‘olono Scholarship recipient Kayla Hill, a graduating senior at Waiākea High School and incoming Cinema major deciding between San Francisco State University and Cal State Northridge.
Kayla shares how Waiākea’s media program helped her discover her passion for production, collaboration, and storytelling, while also helping her grow more confident in sharing her ideas and creative voice. She also reflects on her internship experience at Nā Leo TV and the kinds of stories she hopes to one day bring to the screen.

We can’t wait to see where your creativity takes you, Kayla!
