Pulelehua is a new storytelling series from Nā Leo TV featuring Hawai‘i Island residents reflecting on the experiences that shape who they become.

Discover how participating in Hāʻupu, an original Hawaiian-language opera by Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi, took Makana on an unexpected journey that deepened her connection to her culture and identity.

Hoʻomaikaʻi to Daniel Volpe on his selection as Hawaiʻi County’s new Fire Chief! After more than 20 years of service, Chief Volpe will lead a department responsible for fire protection, emergency medical services, and ocean safety across our island.

Fun fact: Before joining HFD, he was interested in filmmaking and volunteered as a Nā Leo TV Community Creator, helping document local events and stories. How cool is that?!

Chief Volpe recently joined us to talk about HFD’s community paramedicine program. We’ll share that conversation soon!
