🍩 Happy National Donut Day! 🍩

Today, The Salvation Army Hawaiʻi County had the privilege of celebrating Donut Day by delivering hundreds of donuts to first responders, healthcare workers, military personnel, emergency management teams, government employees, veterans, and many others who serve our communities across Hawaiʻi Island.

From Hilo to Kona, from Puna to Waimea, our teams spent the day sharing a simple thank you and expressing our appreciation for those who work tirelessly to keep our island safe, healthy, and strong.

National Donut Day began with The Salvation Army’s “Donut Lassies,” who served donuts and provided comfort and encouragement to soldiers on the front lines during World War I. More than a century later, we continue that tradition by recognizing those who faithfully serve others.

We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with so many dedicated agencies and organizations throughout Hawaiʻi County. Thank you for your commitment, sacrifice, and service to our island communities.

A special mahalo to our staff, volunteers, and supporters who helped make today’s countywide Donut Day outreach possible. We are also incredibly grateful to our Advisory Board for their support and assistance. A special thank you to board member Grant Omura, whose planning, organization, and coordination helped make this year’s Donut Day a success.

It was a joy to spread a little sweetness and a lot of appreciation throughout Hawaiʻi Island.

Sermon Notes for May 31st 💜 Week 3 of the “Strong Women of the Bible,” Esther. We usually want all the answers to why God has placed us somewhere, just like Esther God is preparing us for His glory.

Congratulations to the Preschool Class of 2026 from The Salvation Army Kona Corps ʻOhana Keiki Preschool!

We are so proud of each of these students and all they have accomplished this year. It has been a joy to watch them learn, grow, build friendships, and prepare for the next chapter of their educational journey. This special video is made even more meaningful by the song featured in it, which was sung by the children themselves.

A special mahalo to Captain Shawn Keoho for her leadership, and to our incredible preschool staff for their dedication, patience, and love for every child who walks through the doors of our school. Your investment in these keiki is making a lasting difference.

If you are looking for a preschool in West Hawaiʻi that provides a caring, nurturing, and faith-based environment for your child, we would love to connect with you. Reach out to learn more about The Salvation Army Kona Corps ʻOhana Keiki Preschool.

Congratulations, Class of 2026! We can't wait to see all the great things ahead for you. The Salvation Army - Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Hawaiian & Pacific Islands Youth

Big mahalo to the various Rotary Clubs across East Hawaiʻi, including my home club, for their continued support in helping address food insecurity in our communities.

Pictured here are Rotary Club of Hilo President Newton Chu, Hilo Bay Rotary President Tim Hansen, Rotary District 5000 Governor Nancy Cabral, Beverly Hikes (2028–2029 District Governor Nominee Designate), and Benson Medina (2026–2027 District Governor Elect) — although Benson unfortunately got cut off in the picture 😄 — all from Hilo and strong supporters of The Salvation Army Hawaii County.

We’re grateful for partnerships like these that help make a real difference for local families and individuals in need. Mahalo for standing with our community.Rotary Club of Hilo
