🌺 Community Impact in Action on World Hunger Day

On this World Hunger Day, we’re reminded that hunger is not far away—it’s here on Hawaiʻi Island, where we continue to experience some of the highest rates of food insecurity in the state.

While the need is great, we’re proud to invest $64,000 into 9 nonprofit partners working on food and housing stability for ALICE families across Hawaiʻi Island:

🌱 Waikoloa Grows — $5,000
🏊 Island of Hawaiʻi YMCA — $5,000
🥬 Kōkua Harvest (The Food Basket) — $10,000
🏠 Hawaiian Community Assets — $10,000
🍽 Neighborhood Place of Puna — $5,000
🔨 Habitat for Humanity — $7,500
🤝 Bridge House — $7,500
🥕 Kohala Food Hub/Feed Hawaiʻi — $7,000
🌾 Hawaiʻi Institute of Pacific Agriculture — $7,000

These organizations are increasing access to nutritious food, expanding local agriculture, and helping families find and keep stable housing. Together, we are strengthening our island—one family at a time.

💛 Today is both a celebration and a call to action. The gap between need and resources is real—but so is the opportunity to come together, invest in solutions, and ensure every person in our community has enough to eat and a place to call home.

Hawai’i Island is teaming up with United Way organizations across the islands to strengthen and expand awareness of AUW211 services on our neighbor islands. Aloha United Way's helpline provides the public with resources that can assist with rent, shelter and food. Nearly 80% of those who use the helpline are from Oʻahu.

Frfr—We desperately need small, gently used furniture for our furniture bank! Think side tables, comfy chairs, small dressers, desks, shelves. We are located on the 2nd Floor, so all furniture has to be able to be carried up and down the stairs easily. Not sure if we will take it? Call us at 808-935-6393 for more information.
