Tall Tales Ranch

Our October pickleball social was a blast! Our ambassadors and volunteers hit the courts for some friendly competition, plenty of laughs, and time to catch up. Thanks to everyone who joined us!

Our ambassadors have been making special visits to the offices of our construction partners, delivering coffee and treats as a small token of appreciation for their hard work, generosity, and dedication to Tall Tales Ranch. These visits have been a great opportunity to personally thank the teams whose donated materials, services, time, and expertise are helping bring our future community to life!

This week, we swung by the HomeAid Colorado board meeting to drop some treats off, share about our project, and express our gratitude.

The sunshine is doing its part to help us make up for any rain delays, and we’re making great progress on our future home in Lone Tree! The retaining wall is now in place, and we’re getting ready for the next big milestone—pouring the foundations soon! Every day, we’re one step closer to creating a vibrant, inclusive community where our ambassadors can live, work, connect, and thrive. We’re so grateful to everyone helping bring Tall Tales Ranch to life!

What a fun weekend at Schweiger Ranch! We love seeing these events become annual traditions and reconnecting with the community year after year.

On Saturday, we spent the day at the City of Lone Tree Oktoberfest, and on Sunday, the Tall Tales Coffee Company trailer served coffee at the City of Lone Tree Fall Festival.

The best part was looking right next door at our future home and seeing the construction progress! We loved sharing updates with attendees who have been following Tall Tales Ranch and waiting to see what comes next. It made this year’s familiar traditions feel especially meaningful.

When adults with I/DD have meaningful opportunities to work, volunteer, learn, and participate in their communities, everyone gains something. Employers discover dedicated employees and new perspectives. Neighbors build relationships with people they may not otherwise meet. Businesses become more welcoming and communities become more connected. Inclusion isn’t simply about making space for someone. It’s about recognizing what each person brings to that space.

That’s the kind of community we’re working toward at Tall Tales Ranch: one where adults with I/DD aren’t just present, but are contributing, building relationships, and helping shape the community around them. Because when more people have the opportunity to participate, the whole community is better for it.

Last month marked a milestone we have dreamed about for years: we gathered to commemorate the groundbreaking of our inclusive community.

Our groundbreaking ceremony brought together construction partners, elected officials, community leaders and project stakeholders who have each played an important role in getting us to this point.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to our land and construction partners, including Schweiger Ranch Foundation, Shea Homes, Fiore & Sons, Kimberly Timmons Interiors, Norris Design, and Waner Construction along with the many subcontractors, architects, engineers and volunteers who have contributed their expertise and resources. We are especially grateful to HomeAid Colorado for believing in our vision and recognizing that housing insecurity is a very real concern for individuals with IDD, particularly as their parents and caregivers age. This project truly demonstrates what can happen when a community comes together around a shared vision.

The construction site is quickly turning into visible progress on the property. Fiore & Sons has been moving forward with site development, preparing the land and infrastructure that will support the first phase of Tall Tales Ranch.

There is still work ahead. While construction continues on the residential buildings we continue to raise the funds needed to complete our community event barn and coffee shop as well as future amenities that will make Tall Tales Ranch a truly inclusive community. Please reach out if you are interested in learning more about our capital campaign.
