Our Life Skills Program cooking session is underway and two weeks in, the kitchen is already proving to be a great classroom. Solid skills, good food, and a lot of learning happening.

Thank you to The Reserve at Lone Tree for being such a wonderful neighbor and allowing us to use the kitchen space!

Michael said it better than we ever could.

“Being part of Tall Tales makes me feel like I belong. It gives me a chance to work, learn, and grow. One day, I hope I can live at Tall Tales Ranch and be independent while still being part of this community that feels like home.”

That’s the whole thing, right there. A person knowing where they belong and being able to picture their future there.

We’re building toward that future alongside Michael and every ambassador who will call this place home.

We are grateful to share that Tall Tales Ranch has received a $19,400 grant from Disabling Barriers to support our Community Employment Program in 2026.

While we continue working behind the scenes to build the Tall Tales Ranch community that will one day provide inclusive housing, we are also focused on creating opportunities that exist right now. Employment is one of the most urgent needs facing adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with an estimated 82% unemployment rate nationwide. Through our Community Employment Program, we are helping address that gap by connecting individuals with meaningful jobs in businesses throughout our community.

We are currently working with five community employment partners and, thanks to this support, we have the opportunity to expand to additional employers in the coming year. We already have a few new partnerships in the works and we are excited to share about those soon! Each new partnership represents more opportunities for individuals to build independence, contribute their skills, and become valued members of their workplace communities.

The impact of this work extends far beyond the job itself. Inclusive employment strengthens businesses, broadens perspectives, and helps create communities where everyone has the opportunity to participate and belong.

We are excited about the growth ahead and deeply grateful to have partners like Disabling Barriers investing in this vision alongside us.

Last night at our monthly YPB meeting, we celebrated two May birthdays, Noah and Hannah! 🎉

One of the best parts of this community is getting to celebrate life’s big and small moments together. We’re lucky to be surrounded by so many incredible individuals who make Tall Tales Ranch what it is.

Mother’s Day at Tall Tales Ranch is a reminder of just how many incredible women make this community what it is.

To all of the mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and motherly figures in our community, thank you for the love, advocacy, patience, and strength you bring every single day. So many of the opportunities, friendships, and moments of growth we celebrate are possible because of moms who have continued to push for a more inclusive future for their children and for others in the I/DD community alongside them.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Tall Tales Ranch.

Such a special morning on Thursday being part of the City of Lone Tree State of the City. Mayor Harmon shared updates on ongoing projects and initiatives, celebrated major milestones, and highlighted the bright future ahead for Lone Tree. We are incredibly excited that Tall Tales Ranch will soon be part of that future as progress continues toward our community becoming a reality.

Throughout the morning, our ambassadors proudly served as ushers, greeting guests, handing out programs, and representing the heart of what inclusion in our community can look like. It was meaningful to see them actively involved in an event centered around the future of the city they’ll soon call home.

This week’s snowstorm has us looking back on another incredible season with our Powderhound program. Even with a lighter snow year, our ambassadors still made the most of every trip to the mountains, building confidence on the slopes, trying new things, and spending time together outdoors.

Programs like Powderhound are about so much more than skiing. They create opportunities for adults with I/DD to gain independence, develop new skills, stay active, and deepen friendships through shared experiences and adventure. We’re already looking forward to next season.

We loved attending the Next Steps to Independence Resource Fair last night at the Lone Tree Arts Center. It was great to connect with so many organizations working to expand opportunities for growth and independence for individuals with I/DD. We always value the chance to meet potential new ambassadors and share more about the work happening at Tall Tales Ranch.

A meaningful addition to the future of Lone Tree. High Note Park is breaking ground right near the site of the Tall Tales Ranch community, creating a shared space rooted in connection, access, and belonging. We are grateful to be part of a community that continues to invest in places where people can come together and build relationships.
