Training was on the schedule this week for some off duty teams, last week for others and in the near future for the remaining men and women. We can’t be more proud of them for the dedication to service and to training, both what HPPD schedules and what they schedule on their own. HPPD training hours far exceeds the state requirements. 🎉

There’s not an un-busy week for our men and women! This week was filled with activity and the great National Night Out events.

We found this patrol officer showing up before his shift started to help. As we attended two of the National Night Out gatherings, we noticed several things.

One event provided backpacks to kids who had been in tough situations where police were needed. These events allowed them to interact with officers smiling and receive badges or activity books from them. It allowed adults to interact with officers too to say thank you or to inform or ask questions. It also allows opposite shift officers to see one other which is more rare but helpful.

All in all, we appreciated High Point Police Department showing up like they always do, ready to serve! Thank you to all HPPD and all those who planned events.

National Night Out is a fantastic opportunity to meet your neighbors and the awesome first responder community! We’ll be there!

National Night Out is one week away! This is a chance to enjoy a night of fun, connect with neighbors and meet the officers who serve the city.

We hope to see you at one of the many events happening around the city on Tuesday, August 4. Thank you to all the neighborhood associations, groups, organizations and churches hosting events this year.

We are looking forward to all the fun and the opportunity to strengthen relationships with our community.

We love that people decided this was an important emphasis! And, we adore the kids!

July is Law Enforcement Child Month, a time to recognize the children of law enforcement officers and the unique role they play in supporting a parent who serves our community.

Keeping our city safe is a community effort, and that includes the families who stand behind every High Point Police Department badge. Our officers' children show incredible strength, resilience and understanding as they navigate the challenges and sacrifices that come with a career in law enforcement.

“A Kevlar or soft body armor vest traps heat, making the air immediately under your armor feel 20°F to 25°F hotter than the ambient temperature. On a 90°F day, this means the microclimate under your vest can reach a sweltering 105°F to 115°F.”

Obviously, we are grateful for the armor to keep our guys and girls safe but it also means we welcome cooler temperatures for them and our city! Sending a reminder of appreciation today to all who serve.
