Wild Earth ignites transformative connections and creativity rooted in the natural world.

We make nature accessible for over 4,000 youth and adults annually through school partnerships, summer camps, and community-based programs. At Wild Earth, children & adults head into the woods and off the trails where they’re meeting plants and animals, learning wilderness skills, creating natural crafts, and building deep connections with friends and inspiring mentors.

Participants spent the day learning about wild fermentation and getting hands-on with the process of turning seasonal ingredients into w**e.

Wild Earth has a long tradition of embracing stormy days, and Atlatl’s first day turned out to be a pretty joyful one. 🌧️

After a wet start, the rain eased up, the sun even made an appearance, and the group settled into a full day in the woods. There were running games, fire-making with flint and steel, lunch around the fire, cooking dough over the flames, and a marathon game of capture the flag.

We’re grateful to all the families who came ready to embrace the weather, and to those who made the choice to stay home when it didn’t feel like the right day to come. Challenge by choice is an important part of Atlatl, and we’re excited to keep building on that idea throughout the year.

We’re looking forward to all that’s ahead with this group. 🍂

Wild Earth’s Fall Community Day is coming up! We’d love to spend the day together on the land. 🍂

Join us Sunday, November 1st for a free, all-ages event at Wild Earth’s Home in Kerhonkson.

We’ll spend the day outside with seasonal, hands-on activities, free food and drinks, land walks, cooking with fire, plant dyes, felting, candle making, acorn processing & activities, and more!

We’ll also have a special celebration of life and remembrance for Día de los Mu***os, with Spanish interpretation available for all activities.

We’re excited to be a part of Rough Draft’s Mission Mondays! On Monday, October 5th, a portion of sales at Rough Draft will support Wild Earth.

Our team will be there throughout the day to chat about our programs, our upcoming Fall Community Day, and our free afterschool programming in Kingston. Come say hi!

🏹 Artemis is off to a wonderful start!

The group spent their first day together around the fire, exploring the waterfall, crossing the stream, roasting and candying nuts, and making art with natural dyes.

They made goldenrod and black walnut dyes, painted with vibrant pokeberry pigment, and started an Artemis flag that will travel with them through the seasons.

The day ended around the fire, setting intentions for the year ahead. We were especially touched by the way returning participants welcomed and looked out for those who were new to the group.

A pretty special first day. We can’t wait to see what this group creates together this year.

🍂 Kingston Fall Afterschool is here!

This free, outdoor program gives Kingston City School District students in grades 2–4 a chance to unwind, explore, and connect after the school day.

Based at the stone building in Hasbrouck Park, students will spend their afternoons exploring the surrounding fields and forest, with time for hands-on activities, play, and building friendships along the way.

Our first Ropes gathering of the year was a good one. 🌲

With near-perfect weather and great vibes, we spent the day getting to know each other, making things, practicing skills, and starting to dream up the year ahead.

The teens chose between hide work, needle felting, and carving, working on everything from knife and hatchet handles to figurines and a ladle. We’re especially excited about the deer hide project, which the group hopes to carry through the year and eventually turn into a drum.

Later, we headed down to the Stonykill, where the group made fires, explored, and even took a few swims.

We ended the day with the teens working in pairs to plan activities for the months ahead. Cooking, shelter building, and exploration are already on the list, with plenty more to come.

We’re looking forward to seeing where they take it!

🐾 Join us December 12 & 13 for Wild Earth’s Track & Sign Certification Course with professional evaluator Daniel Hansche.

Over two days, we’ll explore two different habitats, build a wildlife tracking list together, practice reading tracks and sign, and get direct feedback on our tracking knowledge.

This is both a certification opportunity and a stand-alone tracking workshop, welcoming everyone from those new to tracking to experienced trackers looking to deepen their skills.

December 12 & 13 | Kerhonkson, NY | Ages 18+

$425 full cost, with sliding scale available

Already certified? You can also use this course to work toward your next level of certification.

No prior training is required. Come learn, practice, and spend time with other people who love tracks and trails.

A beautiful rainy day at Hasbrouck Park was the perfect setting for drum making. 🌧️

We spent the day making drums together, with 12 individuals and family groups creating their own deer hide frame drums.

We especially loved the intergenerational feel of the day and hearing how much folks appreciated being able to make and learn alongside one another.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a special day. 🥁
