Help bring the Murray Round Food Forest & Parklet to life! 🫐

Join us Wednesday, September 9 from 5:00–7:30 PM to support the community group that has been working hard to design and install this food forest and parklet on City of Kingston land, next to the Kingston Greenline and Rondout Gardens public housing.

Help put the finishing touches on the first phase of installation, including weeding, sheet mulching, and planting. Come lend a hand and help create a vibrant, community-designed space for food, gathering, and connection!

This project has been years in the making, shaped by neighbors and supported through a Kingston Common Futures grant—we’d love for you to be part of it.

Saturday August 22nd join the ARCC at Cooking Together. Welcoming Chef Yunique who specializes in Jamaican and vegan dishes, come together to make a healthy meal and learn some new cooking skills!

All ingrediants and supplies will be provided. Participants will learn how to make the meal and be provided with ingrediants to take home and make it again! Chef Yunique will be teaching the class how to make a one pot summer vegtable Ital 🥬

The City of Kingston has launched a free, voluntary composting program for residents!

Phase 1 of the Kingston Organics program was launched in July 2023 with a free, voluntary food scrap drop-off program with 11 easily accessible locations across Kingston.

Kingston Organics is expanding! Phase 2 brings curbside collection for food scraps directly to your neighborhood. Residents of the City of Kingston who currently receive Kingston DPW Sanitation Services (trash collection) can now sign up to receive a free city-issued 5-gallon container dedicated to collecting food scraps for weekly curbside collection.

By participating, you help reduce waste, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and support a more sustainable Kingston.

Our friends at the YMCA of Kingston & Ulster County are hosting their monthly FREE repair clinic on Tuesday, August 18 from 3 – 6pm (last bike at 5).

Rain Date: Wednesday, August 19.

Don't have a bike of your own? At the same time, they are holding a used bike sale!

Ulster County Crime Victims Assistance Program

Upcoming Volunteer Training Sessions
Mondays & Wednesdays
Sep. 14 – Oct. 21
5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

This 40-hour training prepares volunteers to support victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other violent crimes. Upon successful completion, participants will earn a R**e Crisis Counselor Certification through the NYS Department of Health.

🌿 Stewardship Party at the Forest Sanctuary 🌿

Join us Tuesday, August 11 from 5:30–7:30pm for an evening of care, connection, and community at the Forest Sanctuary.

Escape the summer heat in the cool shade while helping us tend to the community food forest—the more we put in now, the more it will give back with sweet gifts. You might even find some ripe fruit waiting on the shrubs and trees 🍇

We’ll have snacks and cold refreshments to keep you going. If we wrap up early, we’ll head over to the Murray Round Food Forest at Rondout Gardens to support the community stewards there.

Bring a water bottle and a friend!
