Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there today!!

Peregrine falcons and in particular the Utica peregrines are the reason I became a wildlife rehabilitator.

This was the 10th live bird rescue we have done in Utica over the past 12 years on the project. Luckily Theo was unharmed and could be immediately reunited with her parents. Try again girl!

UPDATE: He is here now thanks to Jordyn and her mom, Bobbiejo. This was Jordyn’s first time handling a great horned owl on her own and she did wonderful!

And thank you to Cindy as well - she’s a fellow Rehabber that was kind enough to go rescue this owl and keep him contained until we could get a ride for him.

Anyone available to transport a great horned owl from Chittenango to Herkimer? Or at least part way?

Those of you that know me know that I mainly deal with raptors / hawks, owls, falcons / but this year we had some new visitors.
I felt bad because I knew one of our dedicated volunteers, and friend, could not rehab squirrels this year like she had in the past. I agreed to take the little ones as long as I could pass them on to her when they reached the “teenage” stage.
Long story short - it was an adventure to raise 4 squirrels- but I’m crossing that off my list.

We released 2 squirrels last week and they are doing great! These two will be joining them this week. We wish them luck and hope they do well out in the woods beyond our yard.

We have the best volunteers!! Cages are all scrubbed and stacked in our spare shed. Our wildlife shed is all cleaned and...

We have the best volunteers!! Cages are all scrubbed and stacked in our spare shed. Our wildlife shed is all cleaned and organized!!!
Many hours of hard work by very dedicated people to whom I am forever grateful!!
I have been unable to do a lot as I am waiting to have my hip replacement later this month. If it wasn’t for the help provided by my family and our amazing volunteers this wouldn’t be possible!!!
