Spaying and neutering are among the most loving, responsible choices you can make for your pet’s long-term health and well-being. These procedures don’t just help prevent unwanted litters — they can contribute to a longer, healthier, and safer life. ❤️

• Spayed female pets 𝙣𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙮𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙨, which can reduce stress and discomfort.

• Spayed and neutered pets often have 𝙛𝙚𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙚-𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙗𝙚𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙧𝙨, helping them live more comfortably at home.

• Neutered males are generally 𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙢, lowering the risk of injury, getting lost, or being hit by a car.

• Spaying and neutering can help 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨, including infections and some cancers — often avoiding costly emergency care later. The expense of sterilization is also far less than raising and providing veterinary care for a litter of kittens.

• 𝙐𝙣𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙮𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙥𝙚𝙩 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙥𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, leading to more homeless, abandoned, and vulnerable animals struggling to survive.

Every spay or neuter represents prevention, compassion, and a step toward fewer animals suffering without homes. Choosing to alter your pet is not only an investment in their future, it’s an act of care for countless others, too.

😥 please don't give away free kittens. There are resources to get them and mom fixed . 🙏🙏🙏

Statistically speaking, “free kittens” often continue the heartbreaking cycle of cat overpopulation. Not every kitten ends up adding to the problem, but a high majority do. 😭

If you’re considering taking in free kittens, ask about the mama cat too. Is she being spayed? Is there a plan to prevent more litters? ✂️ People who take kittens without addressing the mother’s situation may unintentionally enable the cycle to continue. Ending suffering starts with prevention. ✅

And if you’re someone who suddenly finds yourself caring for kittens, your first priority should be getting mom fixed. 🐈‍⬛ I know money can be tight and resources can feel impossible to find, but even small sacrifices now can prevent countless future kittens from being born into hardship, danger, or uncertainty. Don’t wait. Make a plan. Skip that morning coffee ☕️ and start saving now.

Reach out to shelters, rescues, or TNR programs for guidance on safely rehoming kittens and getting mom spayed. Many organizations are overwhelmed, especially during kitten season, so they may not be able to solve everything for you, but advice, support, and information can go a long way if you are willing to be proactive. 😻🐾

20 cats fixed, vaccinated, flea treated , dewormed, nails clipped , ears cleaned.. tested & microchipped if friendly . Today was a long day, but these clinics are always so fun to be a hands-on part of. Thank you x100 to FARVets and all the vets & vet students for being amazing humans.

According to my calculations 🤓 FarVets has spay/neutered 348 cats in our community over the past 6 years . This non-profit has had a huge impact on our community helping us tend to many stray, feral, and indoor overpopulation/ hoarding situations. Thank you so much to FarVets for spearheading the importance of spay/ neuter in our community and many others across the world. And thank you to 4petsake Food Pantry, Inc. for the supplies and funding all of these surgeries. You can't begin to count the number of lives saved and made better by both of these organizations. They are incredible people with incredible drive to help animals and I'm so grateful to be a part of it 💓 Support spay/neuter ! Support your local non-profit 💓

Fixing to Help helps cover the large majority of the cost of a spay or neuter for a family cat or dog who belongs to a resident of Onondaga County who can verify a low household income.

(If we had more funds, we'd spread beyond county lines in a heartbeat 💞, but that glorious day hasn't come yet.)

To register or just to ask a few questions, please call our Registrar at 315-729-8691. She will help you determine whether your pet's surgery qualifies for financial assistance.

Each Fixing to Help pet's surgery is performed at Spay and Neuter Syracuse on Erie Blvd., East. Included in the same-day appointment are:
💞 a brief pre-op exam
💞 two vaccinations: rabies and a distemper combo
💞 a flea treatment, ear cleaning, and nail trim
💞 take-home pain medication

Call 315-729-8691 for more information. And please share if you can. 💞

Thank you for wanting to end pet homelessness!

We hear these things every. single. day.

And truthfully?
That’s exactly where the problem starts.

Because everybody wants something done…until it requires THEM to do something.

Every single ear tipped cat you see?
⏰That took time.
💰 That took money.
💪🏼 That took effort.
That took someone getting up early, trapping in the heat or cold, coordinating appointments, transporting, recovering, educating, and showing compassion instead of just complaining.

Nobody has “extra” time.
People make time for the things they truly care about.

You cannot breed your way out of this crisis.
You cannot dump your way out of this crisis.
You cannot remove your way out of this crisis.

SPAY. AND. NEUTER. is the ONLY solution.

People love to say:
“someone should do something.”

But community change starts when people stop passing the responsibility onto everybody else and finally decide:
“Maybe I should be part of the solution too.”
