Everyone has met Simba—or at least we hope you have! If not, Simba is a 9-year-old Chihuahua who joined our program back in May.
Simba's mom loved him very much, but due to some health issues, she was no longer able to care for him and made the difficult decision to surrender him to our rescue.
I can honestly say that Simba is one of the best Chihuahuas I've ever fostered. When I went to pick him up, he came running right over to me, tail wagging and happy to make a new friend. Since coming to our home, he has done wonderfully with everyone he has met, including cats. His best friend is Mateo, our Great Pyrenees puppy! In fact, Simba is the only dog who would regularly play with Mateo.
Simba came to us with his vaccinations up to date, already neutered, and microchipped. Since he hadn't had bloodwork done recently, we scheduled a vet visit to make sure everything was in good shape and to see if he might need a dental cleaning.
Well, Simba had other plans. He started pawing at his mouth, so his foster mom took him to the vet right away. The veterinarian discovered an abscess. While we waited for the results of his bloodwork, we started him on antibiotics and pain medication to help keep him comfortable and prevent the infection from getting worse.
The good news is that his bloodwork came back great! Next week, he'll be evaluated for a dental procedure so the abscess can be properly treated and he can get back to feeling his best.
Please keep Simba in your thoughts as he heads into his next vet appointment. He's a very special little guy, and we can't wait to see him healthy, happy, and ready for his forever home. ❤️
