June is PTS(D) Awareness Month — a time to recognize the invisible wounds carried by so many in our communities, including veterans, first responders, survivors of violence, and countless others.

PTS(D) is not a sign of weakness. It is a human response to trauma, and healing is possible through connection, support, and compassionate care.

This month, let us move beyond awareness and toward understanding:
✔ Listen without judgment
✔ Encourage conversations around mental health
✔ Support access to resources and care
✔ Remind others they are not alone

To those walking the path of healing: your story matters, your struggles are valid, and your resilience deserves to be seen.

Meet our 8th place winner, Sydni Iltis! 🌟

Sydni is the daughter of Combat Rescue Officer Lt. Col. Shawn Iltis and is currently crushing it at Texas Tech, where she’s studying Economics. 📚 She has her sights set on law school to become a corporate lawyer, and we couldn't be more excited to see her smash those goals! ⚖️

Fun fact: This is actually Sydni’s second time winning a Jolly Green Merit Scholarship—she’s on a roll! 🚀 So proud to have you in our rescue family, Sydni! 💚

Today’s mission is simple...

Reach out to someone.
Let them know you’re thinking about them.
Listen if they need to talk.

Small moments of connection can carry a lot of weight.

A routine training day turned into a real-world rescue mission for three Alaska Air National Guard Pararescuemen near Knik Glacier.

After witnessing a Piper Cub crash and erupt into flames during a local fly-in, the PJs immediately responded — racing to the wreckage with medical gear in hand. They treated life-threatening injuries, controlled severe bleeding, managed burns, and helped save the pilot’s life until evacuation could arrive.

No hesitation. No fanfare. Just highly trained professionals doing what they are called to do when everything is on the line.

“It was a blessing to be in the right place at the right time to have a positive impact on somebody’s life on their worst day ever.” – Master Sgt. Tyler Albee
