We’re proud to welcome the Lt. General Victor "Brute" Krulak Detachment #1415 as a Bronze Level Partner for the 251st U.S. Marine Corps Birthday Celebration, taking place November 6, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama.

A consistent partner of our organization since 2024, the Hoover-based Krulak Detachment, MCL continues to stand out among Alabama’s veteran service organizations through its commitment to Marines, veterans, families, and the community.

Named in honor of legendary Marine Lt. Gen. Victor “Brute” Krulak, the Detachment carries forward a simple but powerful mission: Marines Helping Marines.

🇺🇸Partnership Announcement🇺🇸

TheTrinityDesignGroup (TDG), a certified Veteran-Owned Business (VOB) and leader in industrial packaging and supply chain solutions, has deepened their partnership with Central Alabama Marines-Council ahead of the 251st U.S. Marine Corps Birthday Celebration, in Birmingham, Alabama. The event will take place on November 6, 2026, building on last year’s historic 250th anniversary celebration, and will continue honoring the Corps’ enduring legacy of service.

TDG’s involvement will be led by Fernando Valentin, a Marine Corps veteran, and his wife Jessica, honoring the sacrifices and enduring legacy of those who have worn the uniform and served this great nation. 🎖️ GUEST OF HONOR ANNOUNCEMENT 🎖️

Central Alabama Marines-Council is excited to announce Col (Ret) Gary A. McCullar, USMC, as the Guest of Honor for the local 251st Marine Corps Birthday Celebration in Birmingham, Alabama!

As a Combat Engineer, he led Marines at every level of command—from Platoon Command in Camp Pendleton, to Company Command in Okinawa, to Battalion Command with 2d Combat Engineer Battalion—culminating in his final assignment as Commanding Officer of the Marine Corps Engineer School, where he drove key modernization efforts before retiring in December 2023.

His career took him to the front lines, serving as an Engineer Advisor to the 7th Iraqi Army Division in Ramadi, leading Marines in Anbar Province, Iraq, and deploying twice to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, including as Operations Officer for Task Force Southwest.

Beyond the battlefield, Col McCullar is an educator at heart, holding advanced degrees from Kansas State University and the Air War College. Today, he continues that mission at Booz Allen Hamilton, supporting Marine Corps training and education modernization.

Today we remember LCpl Bruce Ferrell, Jr., a United States Marine who gave his life while supporting combat operations in Afghanistan on August 10, 2009.
Bruce grew up in Perdido, Alabama. Shortly after graduating from Baldwin County High School, in 2006, he joined the United States Marine Corps.

Assigned to Company F, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Bruce deployed to Afghanistan in May 2009 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was only 21 years old, a Marine, and served with the courage and commitment that title demands.

Bruce will always be remembered for the passion he brought to everything he did, his relentless work ethic, and his unwavering commitment to serving his country. Though he is gone, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who keep his memory alive.

Another rewarding day for Project Pathfinder’s campers as we wind down summer camp operations 👇👇👇

Big thanks to BondFire Ranch and Coosa Riverkeeper for making the day a memorable, educational experience🇺🇸

Yesterday, Project Pathfinder campers and their families took a field trip and experienced firsthand the power of organizational collaboration as Coosa Riverkeeper, Bondfire Ranch, and Central Alabama Marines-Council executed six months of planning efforts to create an unforgettable day of outdoor learning and adventure in Clanton, Alabama.

Campers spent the day exploring equine-assisted learning and angler education, gaining hands-on experience that extended far beyond the classroom. The BondFire Ranch team helped participants learn the fundamentals of horse behavior, explored tack and equipment, and even enjoyed a few lasso lessons. Down at the pond, Coosa Riverkeeper introduced campers to the basics of fishing, led casting instruction, and helped everyone try their luck at reeling in the biggest fish in the pond.

As the day came to a close, each camper left with a horseshoe, a fishing rod, and a tackle box, which will serve as lasting reminders of the value of summer learning, time spent outdoors, new experiences, and the incredible things that happen when organizations work together to invest in the next generation of leaders.
