We are a nonprofit ministry serving food poverty elderly and families with school age children. We are currently on track to serve 5,000 meals this year.

At the Kitchen Table is a non-profit serving Alabaster, Helena, and Pelham, AL. We provide a weekly, home cooked meal to elderly and families with school age children who suffer from food insecurity.

2022 we began as a cooking small group at Church of the Highlands – Riverchase campus. We received referrals from campus pastors and staff for church members who were sick or hospitalized. We met weekly to cook and deliver a home cooked meal to those referrals. We served 1,145 meals that first year.

2023 saw growth and expansion for us. We received referrals from Oak Mountain Mission and the Outreach Team at Church of the Highlands. We partnered with Love in Action, food pantry, who helped us with product to prepare over 3,184 meals that year.

2024 began with prayer and petition to see what God had in store. Love in Action’s parent organization: Mobilization Resources, brought us under their 501(c)3 umbrella and we received our non-profit status. Our prayer is that a home cooked meal will show God’s love to those in need, and provide us with the opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

If your looking for another local ministry to support as well as our schools. Check out VFS!

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we’re collecting essential items to support school counselors through our Backpack Buddies program. These professionals work daily to support students’ mental health, emotional well-being, and overall success—and we want to help equip them with the tools they need to support students.

Today, our founder, made home cooked “Taco Casserole” for the ladies at The Resting Place of Pelham.

This has been the most requested meal from those who visit. Ladies can come, take a shower, do their laundry, search for jobs on the internet and enjoy a hot meal.

At the kitchen table is honored to be a small part of their mission!
