We provide many services beyond firefighting, including bu

ilding inspections, code enforcement, building plan review, fire investigations, student and elder fire education, emergency medical response, water and ice rescue, motor vehicle extrication, hazardous materials response, and much more. We provide these services to over 60,000 residents, workers, and visitors spread over more than thirty-four (34) square miles. We respond to emergencies twenty-four (24) hours a day, three hundred and sixty five (365) days a year. We consider it an honor to serve the public and look forward to assisting those in need.

Group 2 responded to a working fire on Hilldale Ave tueaday afternoon.

Crews arrived to heavy fire on the first floor extending into the attic and made an aggressive interior attack, while ladder crews operated from the roof. Members worked for approximately 90 minutes to bring the fire under control, search for extension and extinguish remaining hot spots, with HFD’s drone also utilized during operations.

Strong work by all members on scene, and thank you to our mutual aid partners for providing station coverage.

Today, we proudly welcomed our new Engine 1 into service with a traditional Push-In Ceremony at the High Street Fire Station.

The push-in ceremony dates back to the days of horse-drawn fire apparatus, when firefighters would manually push the engine back into the station after returning from a call. Today, it remains a proud tradition that honors the history of the fire service while placing a new apparatus into service.

Made possible through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, the new Engine 1 is an important investment in the safety of our firefighters and the community we proudly serve.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone. We look forward to putting our new Engine 1 to work in service to the City of Haverhill for many years to come!

Please join us in congratulating Lieutenant Roger Moses on his retirement after more than 33 years of dedicated service to the Haverhill Fire Department.

Lieutenant Moses began his career on August 1, 1993, and throughout the next three decades built a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and quiet leadership. Promoted to Lieutenant in 2003, he later served in the Fire Prevention Division before taking over Fire Alarm in 2018. Along the way, he was honored as Haverhill Firefighter of the Year in both 2000 and 2015.

One of the most special moments of Roger’s career came in November of last year when his son, Firefighter Elijah Moses, joined the Haverhill Fire Department. Few firefighters have the opportunity to wear the same badge and serve alongside their son, making it a remarkable chapter in a career already filled with meaningful accomplishments.

For many of us, Roger will be remembered most for the way he treated people. Whether you were a probationary firefighter or a veteran, he showed everyone the same respect and made you feel like part of the brotherhood. As the officer in charge of Fire Alarm, he never lost sight of the firefighters serving under him. He looked out for his people, made sure they had what they needed, and led with fairness, humility, and genuine care. Those are the qualities that earn lasting respect.

Thank you, Lieutenant Roger Moses, for your unwavering dedication to the Haverhill Fire Department, your leadership, and the example you set for generations of firefighters. Congratulations on a remarkable career, and thank you for everything you’ve given to this department and our community.

Please join us in congratulating Captain Todd Giampa on his retirement after more than 28 years of dedicated service to the Haverhill Fire Department.

Todd began his career on January 4, 1998, and faithfully served the City of Haverhill with professionalism, integrity, and commitment. In April 2024, he was promoted to Captain, marking an important milestone in a career that spanned nearly three decades.

Outside of the firehouse, Todd’s passion for hockey was well known. He played an important role in the Haverhill Fire Department Hockey Team, helping bring members together through the game while proudly representing the department both on and off the ice.

Throughout his career, Todd answered countless calls, mentored younger firefighters, and served alongside multiple generations of Haverhill firefighters. As he begins this next chapter, he leaves behind a lasting impact on the department and on everyone who had the privilege of serving beside him.

Congratulations, Captain Giampa, and thank you for your years of dedicated service to the Haverhill Fire Department and the City of Haverhill. We wish you and your family health, happiness, and all the best in this next chapter.

May retirement bring plenty of time on the golf course, relaxing at the beach, and making lasting memories with family and friends. Enjoy your well-earned retirement, Captain!

A big thank you to Mike Reusch from National Grid for spending the day training our members on the dangers and hazards associated with downed power lines.

Wires down calls are something firefighters regularly encounter during storms, motor vehicle accidents, and other emergencies. Today’s training provided valuable real-world insight that helps keep both first responders and the public safe. We appreciate the time, knowledge, and experience shared with our department.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and our freedoms. We remember their sacrifice, the families they left behind, and the legacy of courage and selflessness they continue to inspire. May we never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Today, we remember and honor Private Hector M. Segura of the Haverhill Fire Department, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on May 23, 1990.

At 32 years old, Private Segura was assigned to Ladder Company 1 when he responded to City Hall to assist with hanging a flag. While operating from the aerial ladder, the ladder suffered a catastrophic failure, causing him to fall to the ground. Despite immediate medical care and transport to the hospital, Private Segura succumbed to his injuries.

On this anniversary of his line-of-duty death, we pause to recognize his service, sacrifice, and dedication to the City of Haverhill and the fire service.

We ask our community to join us in remembering Private Hector M. Segura and keeping his family, friends, and fellow firefighters in their thoughts today.

The members of Haverhill Firefighters Local 1011 extend our thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, and fellow firefighters mourning the tragic line-of-duty death of a firefighter today while operating at the devastating explosion and fire at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont, Maine.

We also keep the injured firefighters, first responders, mill employees, and all those affected by this tragedy in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
