☀️ Last week we presented Scott Forbes, Executive Director of Veterans Northeast Outreach Center with a check from the Lou Marcel Canoe Race for $7,700 along with $400 in Stop and Shop gift cards! This years event was a major success and will help so many veterans in need! 🍀 ❤️ The committee would like to thank all of our sponsors, participants and volunteers for their support this year in making this event so successful! I’d like to personally thank my committee for all their hard work and dedication to the cause. A lot of hard work and planning goes into making this event go smoothly. The committee and volunteers all went above and beyond to make this event seamless! Looking forward to next years event already! 🌸❤️

Hiii!!! I’m sorry but there will be no canoe race until 2022 unfortunately!! Planning on a mid summer outdoor fundraiser raffle!! Will keep you posted on the details!! Canoe Race update: Unfortunately due to the current state of the world with COVID-19 we are unable to hold the race on June 6th as planned. We are hopeful that we may be able to hold it later in the summer but that will be contingent on many factors. We will update you with a date if this is possible. An awesome race from Lawrence Mass. traveling down the Merrimack River for 7.5 miles to the Crescent Yacht Club in Bradford, Mass. Here race participants and guests are all welcome to join the C*C for a huge cook out and awards ceremony along with Live band and great raffles! Proceeds raised by the race will be donated to the North East Veterans Outreach Center in Haverhill, MA. This year’s theme is “Hillbillies on the River”. Prizes for Best Costumes so please feel free to dress the part!
Shuttles will be available from the C*C at 7 AM and bring participants to the Essex County Correctional Facility (ECCF) where the race will start at 9AM and end at the Crescent Yacht Club. Very limited parking is available on-site in Lawrence and shuttles will be available at the C*C to bring participants back to the ECCF to get their vehicle.
~You may bring your own canoe or kayak (PFD must be worn).** Canoes/Kayaks will be available for rental to be reserved ahead of time by contacting the UMASS Lowell Recreation Department. Canoes and tandem kayaks are limited so be sure to reserve immediately! Newburyport Canoe in Newburyport also has limited canoes for rentals. Both sites will deliver canoes to the starting location and pick up at the finish line! Please look for links to these companies for reservations.
You may register for the race AHEAD of time by completing and submitting a registration form at the C*C located at 30 Ferry Street in Haverhill, MA. You can ALSO register on the DAY of the event at the starting location. We will accept cash, check or credit card. All participants will receive a Tee-Shirt with this year’s theme! Come join us make the 40th year a great one!
