With winter and the holidays fast approaching the girls of Troop 62806 are preparing to make another trip to Lawrence. This time to meet some of the women they have helped and to hear some of thier stories. The girls will bring cards and more donated items to bring holiday cheer and hope.
The holidays are a time to be thankful for so many things, especially those we take for granted everyday. Take time to think about all the things in your life that someone else may not have such as warm clothes, a hot meal or safe place to lay thier head at night. Remember those who do not have these necessities this holiday season and give back where you can. A package of socks could be the most meaningful gift a person receives, or a winter hat or mittens...maybe even just a smile could make a difference in a person's day. Be kind to each other and know in your heart that despite our differences, we are all human and all matter. 🤲💞❄🧣🧤🥾❄🌎✌

The girls creating Dignity Bags for homeless women. ♡ So many great donations from wonderful people in our community.

Today was the big day. We outreached in Lawrence at Daybreak shelter, and distributed 34 Dignity Bags and 12 spare feminine hygiene bags to 3 shelters in the area. The troop got a tour of Daybreak shelter and information aboout the population they serve. We also met some amazing people doing street outreach from the Bridge Ministry who shared insight into what goes into helping and uplifting the homeless population. Everyone was so positive and insightful into the homeless and thier needs. Our project was a huge success and we have all of you to thank for your love and support of the girls as they earned their Bronze Award. Special thanks to Joe D for helping us coodinate the project and assisting us on our Bronze Award journey!
