Tod🅰️y is a gre🅰️t d🅰️y to be a HRES Cowboy 🤠

For the second year in a row, Hickory Ridge Elementary earned an 🅰️ grade in the state! In addition to that amazing news, Cabarrus County Schools earned a top 10 ranking out of the 115 school districts in the entire state of North Carolina (Lucky Number 7️⃣!)

To celebrate, our PTO Hospitality Squad rounded the halls of HRES with some 🅰️ themed snacks from almonds, Andes mints, Airheads and more!

While the PTO is usually viewed as one big entity, it is made up of several board members who balance parenthood, careers and social lives while still finding the time to pour back into our Hickory Ridge Elementary School community 🤠

Our first board member spotlight is MADAM PRESIDENT! Shanell Keah has been a part of our HRES PTO Board for 6 years and is our last remaining inaugural board member. She has held several other positions including Secretary and Vice President of Hospitality while balancing a career, being a wife and the ULTIMATE sports mom of 4 (a sixth grader, 2 fourth grade twins and a first grader) 🦸🏾‍♀️ In her very limited free time, she runs our PTO board and enjoys catching Town of Harrisburg concerts at the park and watching Marvel movies!

We couldn’t do what we do without her expertise and her quiet but mighty love & support 💙

Our 2026 PTO Membership Drive was a HUGE success! Special thank you to every family that signed up! Our HRES PTO can not support our students and staff without all of your participation and we are so grateful!

Congratulations to all of our winning homeroom classes that will each receive a popsicle party, Ms. Leonardo for winning a $50 Amazon Gift Card and to Alysia Ammons and family for winning the HRES Spiritwear Prize Pack!

*The PTO will be in contact with the winners this week.

Remember:
🍕 The homeroom class with the highest attendance wins a pizza party!
🍕 Every kid in attendance will receive a $5 game card!
🍕 If you tag CiCi’s on social media, they’ll be giving away prizes!

⏰ Volunteers needed for different shifts throughout the day to help with shopping and processing transactions!

Sign ups are now open for our First Quarter Duty Free Lunch! This is a quarterly initiative where we (the PTO and parent volunteers) cover grade level lunches for a day, giving our teachers a day to take a quiet lunch in their classrooms or order lunch delivery with their colleagues that they normally don't get a chance to talk to during lunch duty!

As volunteers, we:
🍎 help manage the lunch lines to ensure smooth transitions
🍕 open packages and containers
🥪 keep track of time so students know when to clean up
🧃 help teachers with transitions (lining up, classroom job assignments, etc.)

Looking for a way to give back to HRES without rearranging your calendar or budget?

You can help HRES earn extra funding just by grocery shopping! There are 3️⃣ different ways:
🥩 If you have a Harris Teeter VIC Card, you can link your card to the Harris Teeter "Together in Education" program! It is free to do, and you MUST re-link your VIC Card EVERY school year! A portion of every grocery purchase will be donated back to HRES!
🥦 If you shop at Lowes Foods, you can connect your Fresh Rewards number to their "Cart to Class" program and just like Harris Teeter, a portion of every purchase will be donated back to the school!
🥣 No matter where you shop, if you purchase any grocery items with "Box Tops" you can use their free app to scan the barcode and Box Tops for Education will donate back to HRES, as well!

No need for a grocery list or Pinterest recipe... We are back with our first Tasty Tuesday of the 26-27 school year!

Join us next Tuesday, August 25th from 4-8 PM at CiCi's Pizza!
📍 10900 University City Blvd

Not only will you help HRES earn some extra 'dough or the school year BUT every child in attendance will receive a free $5 game card to be used at the on site arcade AND the homeroom with the most students that attend (sign in with your teacher name at the cash register) will win a FREE pizza party!

This year, CiCi's is making Tasty Tuesdays a little more interesting 👀
During any Tasty Tuesday, if there is a team of 2 that attempt AND complete the CiCi's Pizza Challenge (devouring a 28" pizza), HRES will receive an EXTRA $200!
