On Thursday, Pack 173 celebrated a big milestone for some incredible scouts as they earned the Arrow of Light and crossed over into their next adventure in Scouts BSA.

The Arrow of Light is the highest rank a Cub Scout can achieve, representing years of hard work, leadership, and growth. These scouts have learned new skills, served their community, tackled challenges, and lived out the Scout Oath and Law along the way. Crossing the bridge marks the end of their Cub Scout journey and the exciting beginning of their path in a troop.

Please join us in congratulating our newest Arrow of Light recipients:
Addison, Audrey, Dominic, Havya, Jack, JR, Robby, and Vatnika.

While this achievement belongs to the scouts, it also reflects the incredible commitment of their parents and families. From helping with adventures and attending meetings to cheering them on every step of the way, scouting is truly a family effort. Thank you for the time, energy, and support you’ve poured into helping these scouts reach this milestone.

Congratulations, scouts—we’re proud of you and can’t wait to see what adventures come next! 🎉⚜️

We hear there was a big game this weekend … but for Pack 173, the biggest event of the weekend was the 2026 Pinewood Derby 🏁

Saturday was packed with fast cars, loud cheers, and some serious Scout engineering. And just when we thought things couldn’t get more exciting, our timekeeping system decided to take the day off — so we went full throwback and tracked races with paper and pen like it was the 1900s. Turns out, it still works 😉

The racing was tight. The top 7 cars in the pack all averaged under 3 seconds, with less than a tenth of a second separating 1st through 7th place. Blink and you missed it. That’s how fast these cars were.

Huge shoutout to our Scouts for their creativity, hard work, and sportsmanship, and to our leaders and volunteers who kept everything rolling (even when technology didn’t). What an unforgettable derby — memories were made, bragging rights earned, and wheels officially burned rubber.

We closed out an epic popcorn season last week with pizza, pie… well, pies to the face! 🍕🥧😂
Our scouts didn’t just meet our fundraising goal — they crushed it! 💪🎉

Because of their hard work, we’re able to keep Scouting affordable and plan some pretty amazing adventures this year.

Huge congratulations to all of our scouts who participated, a big THANK YOU to our parents for your continued partnership, and an extra shout-out to the brave leaders who took one (or more!) pies to the face to celebrate a job well done. You all make Scouting fun, memorable, and awesome! 💙⚜️🥧

Pack 173 has had a busy fall!
And yes… their social media person has been a little behind (it’s me, hi, I’m the problem 😅). So before we head into Thanksgiving, let’s take a minute to celebrate everything our amazing Scouts, leaders, and families have been up to — and all we have to be thankful for!

• Family Fall Fest at Camp Barnhardt
• Wrapping up an incredible popcorn fundraising season
• Handing out candy at Harrisburg’s Trick-or-Treat at the Park
• Reverse Trick-or-Treating at Pruitt Nursing Home
• Camping at the beautiful Grandfather Mountain
• Building and launching homemade water rockets 🚀

As we move into the holiday season, Pack 173 is also continuing to collect food donations to support the Harrisburg Food Pantry. Thank you for helping us make a difference in our community!

📣 Pack 173 Holiday Food Drive! 🥫

The holiday season is a time for giving, and Pack 173 is excited to announce a food drive supporting the Harrisburg Food Pantry! 🥫🥫🥫

We are collecting essential food supplies throughout November and December to help our neighbors in need. All donations will go directly to stocking the shelves of the local pantry. Check the attached list for the most needed items.

Here’s how you can help:
✨ Drop off your donations with your favorite Scout from Pack 173! They will be collecting supplies throughout November and December.
✨ All donations are needed before Thursday, December 11th.

🚴‍♂️🚦 Pack 173 Bike Rodeo! 🚦🚴‍♀️

Last night, our Scouts put the pedal to the metal at our annual Bike Rodeo! 🎉

From learning important bike safety tips to doing hands-on bike tune-ups, our Scouts gained the skills to keep their wheels rolling smoothly and safely. The highlight? An exciting bike obstacle course where they tested their balance, control, and confidence on two wheels. 🛞✨

Huge thanks to our leaders, volunteers, and families who made this event possible—it was a ride to remember! 💙💛

🌲🔥 Pack 173’s First Campout of the Year! 🔥🌲

This Saturday our scouts kicked off camping season at beautiful Lake Norman—and what an adventure it was!

From whittling, canoeing, swimming, fishing, and hiking, to pitching in on a ranger-led service project cleaning up the trails, our scouts stayed busy learning, serving, and having fun together. 💪

Of course, no campout would be complete without campfire meals and plenty of s’mores 🍫🔥—a sweet ending to a day full of memories.

Way to go, Pack 173! Here’s to an amazing year of scouting ahead. 💛💙

🎉 Back to Pack Bash – What a Blast! 🚀

Pack 173 kicked off the new Scouting year in the best way possible last week with our Back to Pack event! Scouts and families had a fantastic time reconnecting, welcoming new faces, and enjoying a day full of FUN!

🍧 Snow cones kept everyone cool
🏰 Bounce house fun brought the energy
⛵ Rain gutter Regatta races were full speed ahead!

Thank you to all the volunteers who made this awesome event possible — and to our Scouts and families for showing up with so much spirit! We can't wait for an amazing year of adventure, learning, and memories.
