What a great day for Blue Sunday! 💙

We kicked off the day by hosting Brown Bag, and the turnout was fantastic! It felt so good to see everyone together again, and we are so excited to get back into the swing of things, connecting, sharing resources, and working together for the children and families in our communities.

Then we headed to the Brownsville DFPS office for a little Pickles & Popcorn appreciation! 🥒🍿

The staff was so grateful, but we are just as grateful for THEM. The work they do every day is difficult, often heartbreaking, and incredibly important. Sometimes a small gesture is simply our way of saying, “We see you. We appreciate you. And you are not in this fight alone.”

Blue Sunday has always believed that protecting children takes all of us, churches, communities, advocates, caseworkers, volunteers, and people willing to show up.

Today was a good reminder of just how much we can accomplish when we do it together. 💙

💙 September is National Kinship Care Month.

This month, we honor the grandparents, relatives, and loved ones who step in when children need them most.

Kinship caregivers often take on this responsibility unexpectedly and make incredible sacrifices to provide children with something invaluable, a safe, stable, and loving home while keeping them connected to family, culture, and community.

At Blue Sunday, we see the strength of kinship families every day. We also know that raising children a second time around, or suddenly welcoming additional children into your home, can come with challenges. That’s why supporting kinship families is such an important part of our mission.

To every grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, relative, and loved one who has said, “You can stay with me”:

We see you.
We appreciate you.
We are praying for you.
And we are grateful for the difference you are making in a child’s life. 💙

Throughout September, we’ll be celebrating these incredible families and sharing ways our community can help support them.

At Blue Sunday, we are incredibly proud of every single person who answers the call to become a CASA advocate. We know this work isn’t easy. It takes time, commitment, patience, and a very big heart. But it is so important.

Every child deserves to know they are not alone. They deserve someone in their corner, someone who will listen, speak up for them, and make sure their voice is heard.

Today, we are especially proud of one of our dear friends of Blue Sunday, Vanessa Cantu, who has completed her training to become a CASA advocate! 💙

Vanessa has a huge heart, and we know she is going to make a difference in the life of a child who needs someone just like her.

Congratulations, Vanessa! We are so proud of you and grateful for your willingness to step up and be a voice for a child. 💙

It’s only August, and look what YOU have helped Blue Sunday accomplish in 2026! 💙

From distributing 500 filled H-E-B backpacks and $20,000 in H-E-B gift cards to kinship families and families experiencing food insecurity, to making sure more than 100 teens in foster care received a gift card at Christmas, every number on this graphic represents a child, a family, or a community touched by your support.

We’ve hosted camps and special events, supported foster families, shown appreciation to our CPS/DFPS partners, traveled throughout our region sharing our mission, and continued sharing the Blue Sunday message with churches around the world.

We celebrated our 32nd Annual Blue Sunday National Day of Prayer, raised funds, built new partnerships, strengthened old ones, and continued showing up wherever we are needed.

And we’re not done yet. 💙

There are still four months left in 2026. More children to serve. More families to support. More churches and communities to reach. More work to do.

None of this happens without our donors, sponsors, volunteers, churches, community partners and friends who believe in this mission.

Look what YOU helped us do.

Thank you for standing with Blue Sunday and helping us pray, educate, support and prevent child abuse.

Because every child matters. 💙

💙 Did You Know? 💙
Did you know that a CASA volunteer is appointed by a judge to advocate for the best interests of a child who has experienced abuse or neglect?
CASA volunteers get to know the child by speaking with everyone involved in their life including family members, caregivers, teachers, medical professionals, and caseworkers. They gather important information and make recommendations to the court to help ensure the child's needs remain the priority.
For many children in foster care, a CASA volunteer is the one consistent adult who stays by their side throughout their case.
Every child deserves someone who will listen, advocate, and never give up on them.

🐾 Meet Ginger! Blue Sunday’s Newest Team Member! 💙

In honor of National Dog Day, we’re celebrating Ginger, Blue Sunday’s new therapy dog, who made her official debut at our Brunch in Blue!

Ginger and her handler are preparing for a very special role in our mission. For children who have experienced abuse or trauma, a dog’s calm and loving presence can provide comfort, build trust, ease anxiety, and help them feel safe. Dogs listen without judgment and offer the kind of unconditional love that can reach a child when words are difficult to find.

Ginger represents a new expression of hope and healing in child abuse prevention. With her gentle spirit, warm brown eyes, and wagging tail, she reminds us that sometimes comfort comes on four paws. 🐶

Please help us welcome Ginger to the Blue Sunday family, and join us in celebrating all the dogs who bring love, comfort, and joy into the lives of children.

Happy National Dog Day! 🐾💙
