I can’t even make a quick trip to the grocery store without finding a dog who needs help. Today was no different.

She looked at us with hopeful eyes, and as much as we wanted to, we had to leave her behind. Not because we didn’t care—but because we have nowhere for her to go. No open foster homes. No safety net.

This is the reality of rescue. The dogs are there. The need is there. What we’re missing are the people willing to open their homes and hearts.

If this tugs at your heartstrings, please reach out. We need fosters. The dogs need fosters. Together, we can change their story.

Amos… is HOME! His parents just texted “all is calm”, which swooshed an instant peace over me. 🏡

Their resident pup, Dakota, is a 75 lb Shepherd/Husky mix and a known diva. She has had all the attention for 5 years since they saved her from the streets of Brownsville.

Amos is a Shepherd and takes his job to work and protect as seriously as his constant snuggles and affection. We honestly didn’t know how the introduction would go.

Today, they met on neutral grounds at K9 Consultants for an assessment and passed with flying colors. Jaime can read the non-verbals of a dog like no other. He takes time to train humans and create a mutual understanding between the dog and their handler. Amos is home, being snuggled and loved just the way he should be.

Give it up for Amos!! 🐾 Shane and Monica, we are grateful our paths crossed and you have the opportunity to share your life with him. They promised to share updates, which we will share with you. Thank you for being a part of our village.

Tonight, Amos met his future. ❤️

After being a long-term foster, the call we’ve been waiting for finally came. We have plans to meet his trainer K9 Consultants and get him groomed PetSmart on Sunday before he heads home.

Amos, you’ve waited so patiently for someone to see just how special you are. 👑 … We always knew your people were out there.

That’s the thing about fostering. You pour your love into a dog that was never meant to stay. You celebrate every milestone, every ounce of trust they learn to give, and then one day you hand them over to the life they’ve been waiting for all along.

It’s equal parts joy and heartbreak.

But this moment — this exact moment — is why we do it. From a tragic abandonment case to a treasured and loved member of the family.

We are deeply humbled and incredibly touched to have had Harley's Hounds selected as a recipient of memorial donations in lieu of flowers honoring a beloved member of our community, Faustino A. Galvan.

Faustino's family shared that he dearly loved his rescue dog, Daisy, and wished to continue that love by helping other dogs in need. There is no greater honor for a rescue organization than to be entrusted with carrying forward a legacy of compassion.

Every donation made in his memory will directly support the animals in our care and help provide the second chances that every dog deserves.

At Harley's Hounds, we often say that Harley started this mission, but it is dogs like Daisy—and the people who love them—that keep it going. The bond between a rescue dog and the person who gives them a home is truly life-changing, for both.

To Faustino's family and loved ones, please accept our heartfelt condolences and our deepest gratitude. Thank you for allowing us to be part of honoring a life so well lived and so deeply loved.
